Hey everyone! I'm Fania, and I come from Moscow. I left Russia in early March 2022, when the war started, and I spent a few months in Europe, Turkey and Georgia. Then I went back for a while to see my loved ones and try and do some volunteer work with refugees here.

I’m a hitchhiker and a couchsurfer. I like swimming, reading, watching films, rollerblading, cider and nectarines. I do wall climbing and I love it. I'm a night-talker and a tea-drinker. languages are my passion. There's literally nothing I enjoy more than the feeling of being able to express myself in a foreign language. I have been hosting for a few years now. I think hosting gives me a different perspective on what it means to be a good guest. I think I’m a different guest now that I’ve hosted people)) I genuinely enjoy a light chat and a complicated conversation, a bar and a fancy dinner, a cigarette and an arts museum. I really like people who are at ease with anyone. I love trusting and being trusted. I try to care as little as possible about my own physical comfort and I think I’m progressing)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve been using CS to travel for four years now and I’ve recently started hosting. I've travelled with Couchsurfing mostly in Germany but also in France and the US, and every host I met was a new and exciting experience. For me, Couchsurfing is a storytale thing. I couldn't believe something like that existed when I first found out about it. And at the same time it seemed so natural and so totally for me. !!!I do not think Couchsurfing is a place to look for sexual partners and I do not tolerate disrespect for personal boundaries. I’m not on Couchsurfing for a cheap stay. I really want to get to know you.

Music, Movies, and Books

Yo. Just music! Russian literature is something I'm made out of. I'm much less familiar with foreign literature but this last year I've read a lot of contemporary American stuff and I think it’s really cool. Some recent discoveries: 4321, A Home at the End of the World; The God of Small Things; The Corrections. These things took my breath the way that nothing ever did. I've watched a lot of series when I was a teenager but I’ve slowed down a little bit. I used to think Downton Abbey was my favourite one ever but then I saw Fleebag... I also love a good film. Yay for big screens and loud speakers!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like hosting as much as traveling, so please don’t hesitate to write if you’re coming to Moscow:) I can teach you anything I know. Russian or English or how to juggle. Honestly, I think this is not so important if we can find a mutual topic, me and you.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I usually travel with a minimum of things which include a sleeping bag, so I don’t really need anything. I'll talk to you or not talk to you if you don't want me to. We can hang out together or I can just blend in with the furniture. I try to be an easy guest and I hope I’m an easy host. Can't wait to meet you:)
