About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Teach 60 kids how to spell :)

ABOUT ME

Loyal, committed, fond of traveling, curious, social, impatient, likes to see results....

I'm a teacher in Dutch, working fulltime. In the little bit of spare time I have, I enjoy seeing my friends, going out for dinner or a drink and two nights a week I am ballroom dancing.

PHILOSOPHY

There are no strangers, only friends we haven't met yet.

"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live, remember that." (said Albus Dumbledore, fantastic character created by the famous writer J.K. Rowling)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to share my couch with you in the future! As I live with housemates now who have different opinions about the CS project than I do, I cannot offer you my couch at the moment. I hope to have a good time meeting up with you in either my or your home country!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I crashed on couches of friends, and friends of friends in a few different countries such as Poland, Ireland and France. Most recently I stayed with a Dutch friend of mine in Blackrock, Dublin, and her two Polish roomies. I had a horrible night in a hostel and decided that was enough! Even though I didn't know her roomies they were nice to me, they gave me food and watched the Simpsons with me in a nice big bed! :) I just had two friends from the South of France over for a few days and spent a lovely weekend with them. Now figuring out this website!

Interests

Nice scenery, great food and drinks, having a laugh, shoes (I AM a girl), traveling, other people's stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Harry Potter books, they are so well written and JK Rowling is so creative with language :)
Other books as well, I try to read both Dutch and English literature when I can find time. Don't like chicklit!

Movies: yes please! I am just a sucker for lovestories and a bit ashamed to admit I saw Pride and Prejudice seven times. Also like Casablanca, Love Actually, You've got mail, Finding Neverland. I also enjoy movies that make me laugh (like School of Rock)

Music: So much different stuff! From U2 to Katie Melua, from Pussycat Dolls and Amy Winehouse to folk music and jazz. Just discovered Ali Farka Touré. Anything Irish will definitely do.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was an au pair in Ireland, I went to Killarney with a friend of mine. We rented bikes and got up really early, to cycle through the National Park at the crack of dawn. It was so quiet and so beautiful, I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Malta, Monaco, Poland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ireland, Netherlands
