About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn Dutch, Explore the Netherlands and Europe. Refocus on my career, and learn a few new skills along the way.

ABOUT ME

I'm your typical California raised computer geek with (surprisingly) some social skills, a taste for exotic food and wine, and world class dance moves (not really lol, but that doesn't stop me from trying). I've lived all over the world, but recently (2016) moved to Leiden, Netherlands.

I am focused on expanding my mind, exploring the world, and experiencing awesome new things. I've been to Burning Man and a number of music festivals the world around, and want to continue to go to new ones.

I like to delve into photography, and love good conversations about computers, technology, life, travels, culture, photography, or just shooting the shit. Up for coffee/tea/dinner? I've got stories to tell about, well, just about anything nowadays, and I'd love to hear yours! I have odd hobbies, like juggling and spinning fire, and I enjoy sewing.

If you're into technology I can have endless conversations about that, if not, well, that's awesome I'd love to hear about some travel experience, a cultural misunderstanding, or "your best CouchSurfing experience". All great topics with fellow Couchsurfers!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm just very random and easy going, I try to live my life random as possible, whilst still having a end-goal, dreams, and something to work for while having fun along the way.

I also really am into the exchange of thoughts and ideas. I like to speak and share my knowledge with others. I would also like to speak more often at conferences and meetings. I also love to listen, and learn from others. Like I said, the exchange of knowledge. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to work as a full time Systems Administrator and Programmer for CouchSurfing back when it was a non-profit. Nowadays I do the same, but for various companies and startups around the world. I crash the occasional CS event and whenever I have a place I'm at more than a few days I try to host people. When not, well, I'm being nomadic and randomly staying with friends, family and CouchSurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I've had some great hosts across the US, and met some awesome people at meetings in USA, Germany and Czech, Costa Rica, and China.

I've toured the US CouchSurfing, hosted and surfed in Germany, and met up with CouchSurfers now in 13 countries and plan to continue to expand that number.

Interests

I like to explore the world, experience its people, forget to take photograps everywhere I go, experience new cultures and appreciate their differences, dance like there is no tomorrow, and do it all with a smile and positive outlook. :)

Technology (nerdy crap, aka don't read below):
Mac, Linux, PHP, Math, Engineering, Sysadmin, Website Design and Architecture, OSS, Encryption, Security, Security Literature, Hacking, Cracking, Disassembling and Deconstructing, Video Games (Programming and playing), Mobile Development, API Architecture, Quad Copters, FPV, Arduino, etc...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies are fun, all types. Romantic sob stories, action flicks, intellectual mind-bogglers and edge of your seat thrillers. All great stuff. I especially like those movies that are REALLY stupid, like Airplane (very old example). The type of just really slapstick or blunt humor where most people go "ughhhh" I just love it! And of course anything scifi, so BSG, Star Trek, etc. Some off the top of my head top 10 (or so) are: The Big Lebowski, Requiem for a Dream, Fear and Loathing, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Black Dynamite, Kung Pow.

In music I'm a fan of anything except Country and Rap. Heavy influences are in Goth, Electronic, and Metal, and especially anything that can fit in all three categories. :) Recently got introduced to dubstep which is leading me to a lot of other new electronic music genres that are all interesting and amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I need to write a novel here... one day. :)
