About Me

Travel the world, enjoy life. :)

I'm your typical California raised computer geek with (surprisingly) some social skills, a taste for exotic food and wine, and world class dance moves (not really lol, but that doesn't stop me from trying). I recently moved to San Francisco and now I consider it home, the place, the people, the food is amazing. World class, and it's in a world of its own there, as anyone who lives there knows.

I am currently really focused on expanding my mind, exploring the world, and experiencing awesome new things. For example, I just went to Burning Man for the first time (2010) it was everything I could have hoped, and I've been exploring lots of other new scenes and worlds for me in San Francisco and during my travels.

I like to delve into photography, and love good conversations about computers, technology, life, travels, culture, photography, or just shooting the shit. Up for coffee/tea/dinner? I've got stories to tell about, well, just about anything nowadays, and I'd love to hear yours!

If you're into technology I can have endless conversations about that, if not, well, that's awesome I'd love to hear about some travel experience, a cultural misunderstanding, or "your best CouchSurfing experience". All great topics with fellow Couchsurfers!

I'm just very random and easy going, I try to live my life random as possible, whilst still having a end-goal, dreams, and something to work for while having fun along the way.

I also really am into the exchange of thoughts and ideas. I like to speak and share my knowledge with others. I would also like to speak more often at conferences and meetings. I also love to listen, and learn from others. Like I said, the exchange of knowledge. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm a full time Systems Administrator and Programmer even while I travel.
I crash the occasional event CS event and whenever I have a place I'm at more than a few days I try to host people. When not, well, I'm being nomadic and randomly staying with friends, family and CouchSurfers.

Well, I've had some great hosts across the US, and met some awesome people at meetings in USA, Germany and Czech, and now Costa Rica.

I've toured the US CouchSurfing, hosted and surfed in Germany, and met up with CouchSurfers now in 7 countries and plan to continue to expand that number.

I like to explore the world, experience its people, forget to take photograps everywhere I go, experience new cultures and appreciate their differences, dance like there is no tomorrow, and do it all with a smile and positive outlook. :)

Technology (nerdy crap, aka don't read below):
Mac, Linux, PHP, Math, Engineering, Sysadmin, Website Design and Architecture, OSS, Encryption, Security, Security Literature, Hacking, Cracking, Disassembling and Deconstructing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies are fun, all types. Romantic sob stories, action flicks, intellectual mind-bogglers and edge of your seat thrillers. All great stuff. I especially like those movies that are REALLY stupid, like Airplane (very old example). The type of just really slapstick or blunt humor where most people go "ughhhh" I just love it! And of course anything scifi, so BSG, Star Trek, etc. Some off the top of my head top 10 (or so) are: The Big Lebowski, Requiem for a Dream, Fear and Loathing, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Black Dynamite, Kung Pow.

In music I'm a fan of anything except Country and Rap. Heavy influences are in Goth, Electronic, and Metal, and especially anything that can fit in all three categories. :) Recently got introduced to dubstep which is leading me to a lot of other new electronic music genres that are all interesting and amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I need to write a novel here... one day. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

So, if you're furious the CS website doesn't work, help out. The simplest way is just to report some bugs or suggestions to CUQ. If you have a larger chunk of time, become an Ambassador, or a CUQ team member, or if you know a lot of languages, become a translator! You can't complain if you don't try to help out. :)
