About Me
Hey, it's Federica here!
I'm a History of Art student passionate about traveling outside the borders of conventional tourism. I've always been fond of traveling, but my studies have made me even more eager to explore the world in a slow, deeper way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was first introduced to Couchsurfing by a language tandem partner when we traveled together around my native island, Sardinia.
In that instance I learned how traveling could derail from the typical "extractive tourism" experience, how it could be affordable, ethical and bring a richness that doesn't come from money.
I really do believe in hospitality as a form of mutual aid and as a deeper, or even sacred way to get in touch with humans. Thus, I think that hosting and to be hosted must be conducted in the most respectful way.
Although this is a new account, I've been on Couchsurfing since I was 18 y.o. Couchsurfing has been such a great ally while I was in England as an Aupair in 2016 and in Ireland as an Erasmus student in 2019, allowing me to meet a lot of expats and locals as well, and to create a sense of community even when I was alone.
