I rarely travel. But every now and then I get carried away and have to go out into the world. Where I go doesn't matter too much. Whether alone or with friends and family. Exploring cities probably appeals to me the most. Every city has its own peculiarities and charms that need to be explored. As I'm rarely away, I want to make the most of my time and see a lot, as I'm curious, especially about the local history and customs. That doesn't mean you can't have a relaxed coffee with me. I would like to learn from people and have interesting experiences. Sometimes I come across as extroverted but not exuberant, but mostly I am simply interested, hopefully friendly enough and want to respect the boundaries and wishes of my counterpart(s) as much as possible. In any case, I am open to everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing may be a way to stay overnight for free - but more importantly, it's a way to connect with people, provide an insight into your own world and culture through hospitality, and learn and gain insight from people around the globe.
After all, what is travelling without contact with local people? Simply abstract, at least for me. I want to engage with people, be amazed and marvel. I have great respect for people who still make the effort to really get in touch with people these days!

I'm particularly interested in classics, whether in literature or film, and I'm a big fan of the ‘The Sopranos’ series. As far as music is concerned, I listen to a lot of classical music, but I'm also a big fan of 60s and 70s rock. Basically I'm open to everything, so if you have any recommendations, let me know!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was once in northern Italy for a concert where I was allowed to play a piece. An enthusiastic lover came to me afterwards and told me how beautifully I had played. He gave me a ring and invited us to his place for dinner and to stay the night. A fabulous experience!
