ABOUT ME

I am a quiet and somewhat shy person, which nevertheless loves to travel, meet new friends and engage in new situations. I am an intellectual type trying - with modest success, admitedly - to become a kind of renaissance man, that is, someone trying to approach this mistery that is man and human nature from as many paths as possible - though with an obvious penchant for Clio, Muse of History. Though I prefer literature and reading and writing, I also have a sympathy for the musical and visual arts. I don't like perfomative arts very much since I always felt uncomfortably exposed in massive social situations, and I actually prefer to cultivate a few selected friendships over vying for status and favour in any close-knit community.

Zainteresowania

Professor of History by profession, and would-be scholar in Islamology, I spend much time reading History and trying to learn new languages, both dead and live, in order to access the living word of those who were and to be able to share with those who are from diferent cultures than my own. Other than that, I prefer to spend my time travelling, reading, sometimes camping, doing sports (Yoga, sailing, cycling, Martial arts)and hanging out with friends who love quiet activities., discussing with them history, arts and politics.

Reaching the peak of the Wayna Picchu observatory hill of the renowned Inca citadel of Macchu Picchu (after near death in Bolivia due to digestive disease, being still much debilitated and underweight and much fatigued from the preceding 12 km trek through Peruvian jungle)
Taking for a time the helm of the Huayna, a 39-feet competition sailing ship, on the River Plate, courtesy of her captain who was about to retire.
Reaching the impressive Roman ruins in Sbeitla 8ancient Sufeitula) in Tunis, and stepping in front of its unique Capitolium temple, after many accidents that had left me practically bankrupt in a foreign country - without help available from the local embassy.
