ABOUT ME

I don't have the energy right now to avoid writing something really dull and inaccurate.

PHILOSOPHY

Not to express a personal philosophy because you don't want blank space on your couchsurf profile

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I was passively participating for a while (through friends who were official couchsurf hosts) and then I went to Finland and became a real-life couchsurfer

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A housemate of mine is an avid couchsurfer and I have been able to ride the wave of fun with her and the couchsurfees who've stayed at our house. We really enjoyed the company of Aaron and Erika, who came to us after camping in OCCUPY BRISTOL in November. All they wanted to do was curl up in bed and drink tea. It was so cute. Then there was Sharna, from Australia, who spoilt us with delicious dohnuts (including pustachio flavour)and helped us in our attempts to fly a kite. Danielle and Richard came to us expecting to explore typical Bristol - they ended up coming with us to a friend's Bollywood Party - not sure how typical Bristol it was. The main thing I got from these experiences is, couchsurfing leads you into very random and spontaneous social situations. :) Also, in Morocco I did some unofficial couchsurfing with random acquaintaintences on our journey South. Lots of unexpected activities resulted including accidental run-ins with friendly drug dealers and watching Doctor Who with really cute kittens.

Then I went to Finland and had fun times in the cold as a couchsurfer sometimes, and then other times a WWOOFer.

Quite eclectic - here's selected...

Films: films directed by Iñárritu, films directed by Wes Anderson, films directed by friends or my sister, The Garden State, Dancer in the Dark, Tiny Furniture,Amelie (ofcourse!), Notting Hill, My Life as a Dog...

Music: A friend of mine characterised my music taste as "a deep voiced man singing depressing lyrics at walking pace" - Silver Jews, The National, The Mountain Goats, The Magnetic Fields ...the comment fits. I enjoy loads of other stuff that is outside this description too - Joan Armatrading, Beirut, Fleetwood Mac, Anthony and the Johnsons, Arcade Fire, Belle and Sebastian, Grimes, CocoRosie...

Proper books: His Dark Materials, To Kill a Mockingbird, Grapes of Wrath, Catcher in the Rye, Into the Wild, Lady Chatterley's Lover, Brave New World, The Man with the Dancing Eyes, East of Eden, The Pale King...
