I'm from the UK (London) originally, but lived in Scotland for most of my adult life, and then moved to the US. I'm an early-career scientist (I work on learning and cognition, with birds in the past and currently with bumblebees). I also write a popular science blog for Scientific American.

My main activity outside of science is rock climbing- right now I've been enjoying the tahoe granite and getting down to yosemite on weekends. Enjoy long trad routes, but my passion probably lies in sport climbing (even though I'm always trying to fight it!). I also enjoy mountain biking (moderate trails), playing music, and just generally getting out for adventures. Generally psyched to meet interesting people and share stories.

I live in a studio apt (2 rooms) so can offer a futon on the floor to visitors. Especially happy to host climbers who want to explore the area.
