About Me

I am an International Business student who is currently doing a Semester Abroad in Linköping, Sweden. I am an outgoing, joyful person who loves traveling, learning languages, playing football, meeting new people and dancing salsa!! I enjoy sharing my cultures and gaining insight from different perspectives. I am committed to deliver a positive image about my country through the trips I make and the the people I meet. Sadly, the image of Colombia is not very positive but I am sure that it can change every person at a time!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I knew about the existence of Couchsurfing since approximately four years ago, but I had never really investigated what it really is about. After recommendations of some friends who have already traveled through this site, I realized that traveling while meeting locals and sharing different cultures is way more fun than traditional planned trips! When I got to Europe in August 2016, I created my profile and are very excited about my first Couchsurfing experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

-Music: I don't have a specific kind of favorite music. I enjoy listening to all sorts of music and believe that we can learn a lot about different cultures through their rythms. However, I have a preference for the music from my cultural background. Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton, among others are just some of wide range of Latin American music genres I like and have some knowledge about, both to dance and to listen to!

-Movies: Although I like all kinds of movies, I have a preference for those films that make your brain work or whose end you didn't expect at all. Inception, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Shutter Island and The Departure are in my top list!

-Books: I really enjoy reading literature! My favorite authors are mostly Latin American: Gabriel García Márquez, Julio Cortázar, Mario Vargas Llosa, Jorge Luis Borges and Andrés Caicedo. My favorite book by far is One Hundred Years of Solity, by Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Scoring one goal in the Inter School Tournament final at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali, Colombia.
-Going to New Zealand for six months and Australia for one by myself at the age of 17.
-Doing snowboarding in Tongariro National Park, New Zealand.
-Doing bungee jumping in the Nevis Canyon in Queesntown, New Zealand.
-Being face to face with lots of kangaroos in Australia.
-Backpacking in Ecuador without having idea where the hell I would be the next day.
-Wandering the amazing Amazon jungle and seeing beautiful animals such as the pink dolphin.
-Eating an alive and huge worm in the Amazon.
-Doing paragliding in Valle del Cauca, Colombia.

Teach, Learn, Share

-Teach: I can teach how to dance Latin American rythms such as Salsa, Merengue and Bachata. Although I am beginner level in cooking, I have some idea about delicious Colombian dishes! Finally, if you're willing to learn or practice English, Spanish or Portuguese I can give you a hand with that!

-Learn: I am open to learn about absolutely anything, I believe that knowledge is essential to our personal development! History, food, cooking, music, sports, literature, culture, traveling, etc. are completely interesting topics to learn about.

-Share: I like sharing everything related to my culture and as I said before, I am committed to change the negative international image that my country has. I am willing to explain the origins of the armed conflict and what is currently going on with the Peace Agreements between the Government and FARC. The drug dealing issue has suffered a dramatic decline and I will show that we have way more to offer than just bad things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you are interested in learning languages such as English, Spanish or Portuguese I can help you out with that! Also, if you are willing to learn how to dance salsa, merengue, bachata and other Latin American music styles, I can help! I can tell you about my trips and what I have learned from all of them.
