我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I discovered Couchsurfing along the way on a three month long trip in the beginning of 2023 and ever since I've fallen in love with the concept. I very much prefer staying with locals than in a hostel. Friendships that are made in hostels often last the duration of the stay, but a friendship made with a couchsurfing host has the potential to last much longer than just the days that a city is visited. A host often knows the ins and outs of a city and is eager to share their knowlegde to the newcoming traveler.

This, of course, goes both ways as a traveler might discover things from a city that a local might nog yet have known would it not have been due to the perspective of a tourist. Whenever these mutual discoveries are shared, along with personal knowlegde and stories the hosting experience of both the host and surfer is elevated manyfold. It is for this reason why I enjoy couchsurfing so much (and why I will enjoy hosting in the near future aswell).

Sadly, not everything can be learned or known. But that is not an excuse not to try! Picking up new hobbies even if they last a week bring a fulfillment and excitement as a new skill is grown. Sometimes the hobby sticks and never lets go. Cooking and especially baking bread is one of them. The Netherlands has okay bread, but after smelling the fresh baked goods and hearing the crust crack that you made yourself... I can't go back.
