Be brave and take risks..
I'm Tom, 23, from Melbourne, Australia. Nice to meet you :)
I am currently taking 6 months off from work and study to do some more travel by myself, hoping to meet some really great people along the way..!
Back home in Melbourne I run an independent theatre company which puts on new/experimental shows - I really love it, and am looking forward to seeing some shows while i'm away to keep me inspired. I also study interior architecture at university, which is a lot of hard work, but always really rewarding in the end.
I am a queer fellow, and would like to go out to a few gay/queer bars while I'm travelling - they're always the funnest nightspots..!
I enjoy drinking beers, going for walks in foreign cities, going out dancing, chatting to new and interesting people, and seeing live music..
Phew, this is a big question! Perhaps ask me again in a few months? ;)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm fairly new to couch surfing at the moment - I have always wanted to surf and to host, but I've never gotten 'round to it for one reason or another. So now I've decided to bite the bullet, no more excuses, and to give it a red hot go :)
I don't really have any official CS stories just yet - so please, have me over to stay and I can start collecting some!
I bloody love a good theatre or dance piece - nothing beats seeing an amazing show. I'm a bit of a music nut, and love being introduced to new music - whacky experimental stuff, chilled vibes, pop, electronica, everything! I'm really keen to get some local music off people while I'm travelling.
I'm also really into architecture and design, and will happily wander the streets of a town or city just checking out the buildings that are around.

Music, Movies, and Books
My absolute favourite book is 'Life of Pi' by Yann Martel.. I adore anything by Jonathan Safran Foer, especially 'Eating Animals' (I'm vego). And I'm currently reading 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius' by Dave Eggers, which I'm enjoying so far :)
Music-wise, I'll give anything a listen but here are a few of the artists that I like:
Active Child, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Beach House, Bear in Heaven, Beirut, Bonobo, Burial, Canyons, The Chemical Brothers, Digitalism, Flying Lotus, Four Tet, Foals, Last Dinosaurs, LCD Soundsystem, Lost Animal, Love Connection, Matthew Dear, Mount Kimbie, The Rapture, SBTRKT, Scissor Sisters, Seekae, Slugabed, Sufjan Stevens, Wild Beasts, WU LYF, Zulu Winter..
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most recent thing that comes to mind is hiking up Mt Batur (an active volcano..eep!) in Bali and watching the sun rise from the top - so stunning!
Need more red on this bad boy ;)!

Teach, Learn, Share
I can help with speaking and writing english, design advice, driving lessons, and I'm also good at helping with writing a good resume for job applications (weird skill, I know). Oh, and I can teach people how to use Photoshop, inDesign, Illustrator and the other design software applications.
I'd love to learn how to take better photographs with my camera, if anyone can help me with that? ;)
