Overview
About Me
I am originally from northern Spain (Asturias), but I have lived in Massachusetts since 1996. Prior to that I spent one semester as an international student at the University of Washington in Seattle, so I'd like to think I have a West Coast perspective as well. My educational background is in architectural history (19-20th c. architecture and urbanism), but I work in software (localization). I like to stay active (running, cycling/spinning, yoga/broga), but I also like to read, travel, and learn foreign languages (currently learning modern Greek). I am also a foodie who appreciates, among other things, good bread and good coffee.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Four years ago I joined Airbnb and have been using it to book rooms/apartments/houses to stay while I travel, both in the US and outside. I rarely stay in hotels or more traditional b&b's anymore, because I prefer the experience of staying with someone who knows the city and the neighborhood well, and who can point me in the right direction when looking for restaurants or attractions. I have met a few new friends that way and have ended up having a completely different trip than the one I had in mind. I am not extremely familiar with the Couchsurfing experience because I have a feeling it tends to attract a younger demographic, but I have been reading and watching stories from seasoned users and it sounds like something I would enjoy trying.
