About Me

CURRENT MISSION

getting to know the places i'm going instead of just passing through.

ABOUT ME

Hi friends! I'm still fairly new to Couch Surfing, and am not sure what details about my life are pertinent. More important, I think, is a description of my household, which is a dynamic and lovely place:

I live in a cooperative household of 12 people. Our house is sometimes called Beaufort House or the Fort Cooperative. We are fun people in our 20's and 30's. Some of us enjoy things like cooking, gardening, books, music-playing, activism, organizing events, bike riding, urban treasure hunting, playing outside and so on. Also, three wonderful cats and one amazing dog live here!

We all share household responsibilities of cooking, food shopping, and cleaning. Each person helps cook dinner (and clean up) with another roommate for the house one night per week. We buy vegan food for the house (although some people buy/cook non-vegan food for themselves). We have house meetings every other week where we check-in, communicate things in constructive ways, and make decisions by consensus. Sometimes we use the common spaces in the house for fun events. Couch surfers won't be expected to participate in any of these tasks, but you are certainly encouraged to do so! House meals are fun!

The house is large. We have a yard with a garden, large trees, and a hammock. In the basement we have a bike shop, a wood shop, laundry, and storage. We also have porches, two large common spaces, a sunroom, lots of books, fireplaces that work, and lots of windows. Our kitchen is pretty large, and we've got a few refrigerators and a couple ovens. There are 3 full bathrooms, and 1 half bathroom. We have high-speed internet with wireless, and we don't have any televisions.

Come stay with us, we love guests! Accomodations for guests fluctuate, but we can frequently offer semi-private space in a common room that shuts off from the rest of the house.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

august in iceland is amazing. the days are 20 hours long, and the quality of the light is magical. iceland is so cloudy all the time, the source of the light is not clear, there just appears to be this soft, diffuse glow across the landscape. it's heartbreakingly beautiful.
