CURRENT MISSION

Right at this moment? Re-activating my CS profile to continue the fun of hosting now that I once again live somewhere that is extremely conducive to having guests! For anyone looking around at my references, there have been lots of changes in my life since the last time I hosted. For instance, I am no longer married. It seemed worth a mention to reduce confusion.

Otherwise, I am raising an awesome toddler in a community house with friends, out in the woods near Asheville, NC. Climbing the steep learning curve of my new job as a framing professional. Learning about printmaking so that I can reproduce my artwork by more interesting means than digital printing. Trying to host more people at this enormous house with so much space we haven't the slightest idea what to do with it all. Hanging out and having a beer with old and new friends on our glorious porch.

They/them pronouns, please. I go by my last name, so call me Cooper, and please avoid misgendering me. I'm not a woman, and I'm not a man. It shouldn't be an extraordinarily difficult thing to ask.

I'm not exactly a ray of sunshine all the time, but I'm really kind and smart, and we'll have interesting conversations.

Generally, winning the fight against depression, anxiety, apathy and despair that seem to be a natural outcome of Living While Intelligent and Human.

Fulfilling the largest fraction of my creative potential that I can, and hopefully building a bit more a creative community around me.

Promoting a more peaceful and equitable world from my small corner of influence. My area of special social justice interest seems to be trans liberation issues, which makes sense because I am genderqueer.

Survived the gestation, birth, and infancy of my child. I am remarkably proud of this accomplishment, given certain obstacles that haven't always made survival feel like a likely outcome for me.

I can help anyone with English language skills. I am a former college/high school English teacher and miss it lots. I would love to speak more Spanish, but my skills have fallen off soooo much.

During the warm months, I may be able to share a bit of basic blacksmithing or welding knowledge if you're in dire need to learn these things. I have to borrow friends' shop spaces to do metalwork these days, but if it's a thing you need to learn, talk to me. I'm also a damn fine hand-letterer, illustrator, and body artist, if you want to learn a bit about that. In fact, I always need models for my face painting portfolio practices, and if you're willing to sit, HOORAY!

We as a household are happy to share yummy food, comfy space to both sleep and spread out to make art, entertainment by toddlers, and rides into town when convenient.
