About Me

Enjoy life as much as I can, meet some great folks and listen to some great music!

I'm a vegan who loves experimenting in the kitchen, talking about senseless things, pretending I know more than I do, taking people at their word, traveling as much as I can, making plans, breaking plans, reading, listening to great music, gardening, meeting new people, listening to elderly people tell stories, making things better, and rambling.

Dislikes: Sea creatures, choosing which restaurants to eat at, gin, losing at beer pong, not having anything to complain about, and when hot runners keep their shirts on.

My personal motto: Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive. --Howard Thurman

Just kidding, I randomly Googled that, but it does sound legit.

Just kidding, I googled that. But seriously. I love having fun, meeting new people, and having as much fun as I can without killing myself (or others)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Discovered CS through a friend of a friend who is now a friend. Wined and dined a few surfers who he brought over. Met and shared culture with some great people and looking to meet more.

Have hosted many surfers and met many others through dinner parties that I used to host in Arkansas.

I love meeting people from other cultures and sharing our traditions. My favorite thing is to learn how to cook a veganized dish from someone's home country. Veggie power!

Reading, fantasy, gaming, motor boating, jogging, hiking, drinking, cooking, drinking sangria on the front porch.

Indie music, live music, dance music, bluegrass music, soul-filled music, new music that sounds like old music.

Being there when I can, hearing about it when I cannot.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Though I'm really bad at remembering actors/directors, I do LOVE movies. I love having scary movie night, but I often can't look at the screen during scary parts.

Music: Been listening to a lot of deadmau5 and Laura Marling.

I love live music, but I have been ignoring it a lot lately.

Books: Although I am trying to branch out, currently I only read Fantasy/Sci-fi books. I love Robert Jordan, Frank Herbert, and Jacqueline Carey.

Love Soccer? My fiance and I are season ticket holders and you can come to any home game we attend for $33. We tailgate and have a great time before each game!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Best moment of my life was when my friend and I almost drowned in a river, she pops up out of the water, pulls out a (somehow) dry cigarette, and asks for a lighter.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn, but hate to study. I am learning how to cook a diverse range of delicious vegan foods. Love to share what I know, or be schooled on ways to do it better.

Sharing or cooking a meal with someone is one of my favorite hobbies.

Share: A bed, a couch, friends, food, drink, and hopefully an unforgettable experience.

Share a Volunteer Talk: I lead a weekly group at my non-profit organization. It is a round-table that meets Friday mornings at 8:00 am until 9:30 am. We currently allow 2 outside volunteers (read: you!) at these events per group. It is an amazing opportunity to connect with someone from a different culture.
