About Me

Hi, I'm Fabiola, but most people call me Fa. I’m a Chilean-Canadian Designer from Montreal. I speak English and Spanish (and I’m studying French at an intermediate level). Most of the time, I’m with Julien (he speaks French and English), but we speak English together.

I can describe myself as a Cosmopolitam Artist with young and curiosity spirit, lol. Im curious person who enjoys exploring new things, countries, lenguages, places, food and culture. I'm an artist by nature, but I've dedicated myself to design, and I obviously enjoy cultural vibrant cities with a lot of art, music, and bohemian vibes.

I’m originally from Chile, I was born in Santiago, the capital of Chile, so I’ve always been used to big-city life, but later my whole family moves to the beach “Valparaiso” the UNESCO Cultural Capital of Chile.
Even I am from Chile, in the same time I am also VERY Canadian with my manners, customs and mentality. It might surprise you, but I don’t think like a “Latina or Chilean”— my mindset is 100% Canadian.
I’ve traveled to many countries and lived in several cities. I only make a list of the countries/cities i lived in (bc Ive traveled too many places)
In 2013-2014 I lived in Lyon and Saint-Étienne, France.
In 2017, I moved to Berkeley, California
In 2017, I ended up in Tulum, on Mexico’s Riviera Maya Caribbean - something completely beautiful and unplanned!
At the end of 2018, I moved permanently to Canada. I first lived in Toronto,
In 2018, I moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, to specialize in structural design and worked in engineering firms for five years.
In 2023, I moved to Montreal for work, and also because Montreal its the Cultural Capital of Canada and my city. In Montreal I became a Canadian citizen and I met my boyfriend, Julien, who is French with a Working Holiday Visa for 2 years. When his visa ended, he had to return to France, and that’s why we decided to move to France together.
Now in 2025, we are moving to France. I don’t know anyone here, so I’m starting from scratch.
We’ll first be in Troyes, where his family lives, and later (depending on work) we’ll move to a larger city close to Troyes, probably Paris, Lyon or Lille. In the meantime, we’re exploring different places in France to see where we feel most comfortable and best integrated, and also taking the chance to travel around Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’re mainly interested in meeting local people and making new friends in France to be honest because I don’t know anybody here. Couchsurfing people are always kind, open, and welcoming—probably because they’re travelers too. That's priceless! I also enjoy discovering the “real culture” through locals, rather than being a “typical tourist.”
