About Me

I'm curious about everything, from current events to ancient history.
I love stories, be they real, or not. I like people, but I also like animals (especially cats).
I like a good laugh. I enjoy nature moderately, preferring city to wilderness.

I am married and have a five year old daughter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Free. Travel. Kidding!
Of course it's a factor, but not the important one.
Meeting new people is, the more different, the better.
I've heard of Couch surfing here and there for the past few years, from friends who practice it and now one of them convinced me to give it a go.

Interests

Design and anything pertaining to visual arts (movies not as much as the others).
Literature. Space. Natural sciences. Cooking. Old style point'n'click adventure games. And travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I listen to anything that's well done. It's easier, in fact, to say what I don't like: I don't seem to be able to connect at all with the top 100's of today (call me old fashioned, maybe?), with the likes of Justin Bieber and Niky Minaj and Lady Gaga and so on. Otherwise, I'm on a Placebo streak right now, all my playlists have something by them.
Books: Also too many to count, but I have a weakness for SF and Fantasy. To list a few authors: Philip K. Dick, Douglas Adams, Vernor Vinge, Zelazny, China Mieville, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Tolkien (of course), Peter Beagle and so on. But also: Vonnegut, Salman Rushdie, Thomas Pynchon, Garcia Marquez, Umberto Eco.
Movies: The Big Lebowski, almost all the Cohen brothers movies, and most of Wes Anderson's, Miyazaki.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am not quite sure what would count as amazing. For me, for others? I've done many things that I consider great. A trip I took together with three friends, while we were Erasmus students in Belgium, from Liege to Barcelona and back, with almost zero money. I took glider lessons (never got around to get my permit, though). I designed and sew by hand my daughter's Halloween costume. I swam with the dolphins. I co-designed the fanciest modern market in Bucharest. I drew computer games backgrounds.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk, at length, about any of the subjects listed under interests. I can cook and gladly share my recipes.
