ABOUT ME

For a long time I have been quite proud to keep my answering rate at 100 percent. However, due to the increasing amount of bullshit requests I receive, I just cannot afford to answer those any more time-wise. If you intend to send me a copy/paste message, or if you have no pictures or an insufficient profile you might consider booking a room in our flat on Airbnb instead. I am sorry if I sometimes cannot answer thoughtful and personal requests immediately, I have too much work to do. Please be patient.

Hi there. I’m Florian, and I like to put borders around DIVs. Chinese people call me 服务员, that’s a running gag with my Chinese name. I was born in Berlin, Germany. I grew up in the neat south east of the city, went to school in what was considered a »dangerous social hot spot« in the media, which might be true to a certain extend, but if you don’t give a shit it isn’t. Still shaped me. I used to love my hometown Berlin, but over time most of my friends are moving out and the people are changing, but that’s probably history and we have to accept it.

Since 2012 I live in the center of Frankfurt and work as a freelance editor for one of Germany’s leading newspapers, having enough spare time to travel and do other jobs, such as editorial consulting. Some people call me a hipster but I don’t consider myself to be one. (That’s, how some say, the first thing that makes a hipster. However, find out for yourself.)

There are so many amazing things in life. Swimming in the freezing Irish sea in winter. Swimming in a fountain in Vigelandsparken, Oslo. Baby-sitting. Hitchhiking from Germany to Italy. Travelling along the Syrian border in Lebanon. Surfing. Climbing. Taking my dad to the Uighur parts of China. Crossing rivers by car in Iceland. Breathing in Iceland. Having missed only three flights out of 183 so far.
