ABOUT ME

I am absolutely silly, very geeky, and a bit of a dirty hippie. I love animals, sunshine, traveling, movies, books, video games, looking ridiculous, dumpster diving, dancing, biking, cooking, eating, being barefoot... Actually, I love most things. I am a hoop dancer and a fire performer.

I'm generally a home vegetarian, but I have a policy of eating whatever is offered to me, so if you feed me I will not be fussy!

I can be a bit awkward but I hope you will find that aspect of my personality endearing!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm eager to travel and to host! I've surfed a few couches and had my couches surfed back.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a handful of awesome people in my old apartment in Tianjin, China, and in Des Moines, Iowa. I've done a little bit of traveling around China and the US via Couchsurfing, too. My hubby and I hope to host people soon at our new place in Silver Spring, Maryland (near the Forest Glen metro station.)

Música, películas y libros

I reread Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy at least once a year, and I still cry every time. I'm a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy, but am open to every genre.

I have absolutely no taste in music and enjoy just about anything. I feel much the same about movies, but am a wuss and usually cover my eyes during scary films.

Skinny-dipping in the bioluminescent water of Sarasota Bay. Watching the sun rise from A Li Mountain in Taiwan. Mountain-climbing through dense fog in Tianjin province in China and watching the fog lift over great cliffs and crags and beautiful vistas. Driving through fields of sunflowers in southern France.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I speak English, Chinese and German and am happy to teach language-y things. I'm teaching myself American Sign Language and dabbling in several other languages.

I also am a hoop dancer and love to teach people hula hooping. If you have never been able to hoop before, I will make it happen, I swear. I make my own hoops.

I can make balloon dogs and basic origami stuff. I can mend clothes but I'm usually too lazy to.

I love to cook! I am an experimental eater. Results may vary.

Things I will talk about forever if you let me: hooping, China, genderqueerism, feminism, food, lingerie, puppies.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I can cook, I can clean (no guarantee that I'll do either of these things well, though.) I can teach you to hula hoop and do various other circus things. I can offer you my love.
