About Me

CURRENT MISSION

ABOUT ME

I just got back from a 6 week trip to Georgia, Eastern Turkey and Armenia. I covered a lot of ground and, for the most part, traveled alone. Now I'm packed on a bus with people in business suits and holding umbrellas. Right now my days consist of riding the 77 bus for 18 minutes each day (9 minutes to work, 9 minutes back unless traffic gets in the way). At night I've been trying to put my photos up online so that my friends and parents don't think I actually stayed home and listened to Gregorian chants on my couch with the shades drawn tight and a bottle of single malt scotch by my side at all times. By the time I get all my photos online, it'll probably be time to travel again. So I'm drinking lots of red bull, staying up late, and using photoshop to do really creative things such as making it look like I've been to places like Yerevan and Tbilisi. I love technology!

PHILOSOPHY

And this too shall pass. But then what?

The best part about the best part is that you know you're getting the best part.

The worst part about the worst part is...

When you see distance in the distance, you know the end is near.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll try to spread the word like the kind of fungus that refuses to stop spreading.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've had people stay on my couch and I've stayed on others, many times. I like couches, and couches seem to like me -- for the most part at least.

Interests

My interests include collecting sweater vests, making things roll straight (even if they're lumpy or misshapen), biking, running, swimming, painting, writing and drinking a lot of wine and then buying things on ebay I'll find useless even before they arrive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was in Sarajevo, in 2006, I went to a Rosh Hashanana service in the Old Temple (1581) and it was only the second time a service had been held there in fifteen years.

Angkor Wat @ sunrise.

Bjork on New Years in Iceland (2000).

Learned to cook Laotian food in northern Laos.

Made my own couch from scratch.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll teach you to use photoshop to mimic real travel experiences with scary accuracy.

How to pick out the right poly-blend sweater vest to match your complexion and mood.

How to sit on a chair and listen to Gregorian chants.

How to rollerblade around Green Lake.

How to turn a photo into an acrylic painting.

How to make the best arrabiata west of the Mississippi.
