About Me

I have enjoyed travel for as long as I can remember. I like everything about it: the culture, nature, landscapes, cities.... everything. With my family, I have been to about half of the states and about 10 countries. My parents and grandparents are extremely well-traveled, and now I want to begin traveling on my own just like them.

I prefer to be in nature and do anything in the outdoors. I am an Eagle Scout who loves to hike, backpack, fish, hunt, camp, kayak, and canoe. I am an advocate of conservation and agriculture, and I always look to continue developing my own hobbies and make new ones.

Although many of my passions are in the outdoors, I really like city travel as well. It's an amazing experience going from a hometown of 10,000 to city of millions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to begin traveling on my own without my family. Traveling through Couchsurfing will allow me to view each one of my destinations as a local, giving me an experience I would not receive otherwise.

Interests

I enjoy all aspects of travel. In particular, I like adventure travel and seeing nature and wildlife. I like sports (soccer). And I like learning and discussing science.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like all music, anything from classical to country and rap to jazz. I have played piano for 13 years and use to play the trumpet and French horn.

I'm not a huge movie guy, but I like those that have outstanding cinematography on topics similar to my book preferences. In particular, I like pretty much any documentary or true story.

I typically prefer historical/realistic fiction books, but I also really like informative/narrative style books. I am a subscriber to National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, and Smithsonian.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have canoed over 200 miles and camped 25 nights in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in Minnesota.

Snorkeled in the Galapagos Islands.

Safaried in Kenya.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach others the English language, about the United States, about places I have been, and a lot of outdoor activities.

While couchsurfing, I hope to learn as much as possible about the local cultures.

I hope to share travel experiences and hobbies with my hosts, and perhaps have discussions about soccer, sports, current events, and science.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my mid-western way of life and good conversation with hosts. I would offer insight into my life at home just as much as my host shares with me.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, Spain, Tanzania, Vatican City State

Countries I’ve Lived In
