About Me

Survive the second longest flight of my life. LAX to AKL - 14 hrs. (NYC to Tokyo was the longest)

I grew up in upstate New York, went to a technical school where we learned how to drink properly. Afterwards I worked for a consulting company mainly on finance projects and for some financial companies directly. After 12 years of working, living and partying in NYC (likely too much on all 3 counts), I've ended all of that and set off on an around the world trip for the next year. (Sept'09 -> Sept'10)

About 5 years ago, I began a photography hobby which has grown into a full time job of sorts. Though it's hard to call it a job when you enjoy it so much.

But for me, I'm an ESTP who was an INFP 12 years ago. They're not supposed to change, but in my case I just grew up and found my place in the world. While outgoing with those I already know, I can be a bit reserved with new people or unfamiliar situations. Honesty is of utmost importance, and it's the best way to prevent wasting time, everyone's most precious asset (although many don't realize it).

I don't smoke, am not allergic to pets (they usually like me, even the grumpy ones!)

Cheese is awesome!

Why not?
Don't worry about things you have no effect on.
Leave the world better than you found it.
Do something you're proud of every single day.
Loving is much more productive than hating.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Right now I'm traveling, surfing, drinking, and otherwise experiencing as much of this world with the most amazing people I can find. Thankfully, CS helps greatly with finding great people, making the rest pretty easy.

I'm very new. So far it's been a few long conversations with a friend who just came back from a 9 month tour involving quite a number of great CS experiences. She definitely peaked my interests.

I also gave a bit of a tour of NYC to two CSers.. Went very well, and we made a good day of it.

I'm currently in Tilburg, NL in search of Coffee and day or couch trips to surrounding locales.

Music, Movies & Books

Movies: I'll watch most anything, especially if I'm working as they keep me company. But favorites include: Empire Records, Almost Famous, Hackers, Lost in Translation, Dark Knight, and most of what Adam Sandler has had a part in.

Music: Definitely a preference towards electronic music, and away from hip hop. Daft Punk, Above & Beyond, Armin van Buuren, John O'Callaghan, Menno De Jong.

Books: There's never enough time, or more accurately I end up spending my time elsewhere. Guess that comes from being a Gen XYZ'er.. When I'm traveling, @ the beach, or otherwise in a reading situation, Ann Rand, Blink, Photography magazines, Lonely Planet travel guides, and occasionally some global economics, politics, or other food for my brain.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I've been an electronic dance music fan for years, so Ibiza was truly amazing (Amnesia specifically). Daft Punk in Coney Island 2007 blew me away. Bal en Blanc in Montreal was the best white party I've been to. And the recent Electric Zoo festival was an awesome festival finally to be thrown in NYC.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: Photography.. I've been a self directed student for the past 6 years focusing on events, nightlife, cities, and catching that moment when nobody's looking.

Learn: Everything. I still have the curiosity of a 5 year old, and want to know more about everything I don't already know. Debating differences is also enjoyable.

Share: That which I've already learned. My Story, history, memories, ...

Countries I've Visited
