To explore the world in order to explore my soul.
If you asked my best friends about me, they would say terrible, malicious things about how friendly I am, and welcoming and funny and loyal I happen to be, and that I smile too much, and how I'm as in love with my beard as I am with my home province - and how I'm willing to show everyone both of them with equal excitement.
Yup, they'd say horrible things about me. But you might as well do due diligence find out for yourself.
"Blue sky is a good reason to look up." - Brad Cran, Vancouver Poet
"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world." - Jack Layton, former leader of the federal New Democrat Party
"If I can't serve as a role model, let me serve as a warning.” ― Mason Cooley, American wit
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new, and have yet to fully reciprocate the hostpitality that has been shown me. I am also currently without a home of my own in which to host.
I CouchSurfed on my trip down the Oregon Coast, USA, and had friendly, wonderful experiences in Astoria and Brookings, OR. Both stays were with experienced hosts and I had one of the oddest nights of my life courtesy of my host in Astoria.
I look forward to hosting and doing the same for visitors to Victoria.
Writing, cycling, drinking, loving, frisbee, swordfighting, boudlering, yelling, and the pleasures associated with good food and conversation.
Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Dystopian fiction, and fantasy.
Music: Rock and Roll, Delta Blues, music with soul, and songs with beautiful lyrics.
Movies: I enjoy most of them - though I can't stand Michael Bay. Slow-motion and panning in a circle around a character while destruction rains around him or her may be well-orchastrasted, but isn't a substitute for emotional resonance.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
-Went to Germany by myself at 17 to live with a family far richer than my own for one month. I lived well.
-Drove down the West Coast, frolicked in the Pacific, and experienced the hospitality and beer culture of Oregon.
-Cycled 500kms around coast of the Georgia Strait like a lone wolf.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell you about the West Coast of Canada, its weather and beauty. I can share writing skills and poetic skills.
I am learning how to longsword fight, and would love to know more.
And a useful trick to know is to refer to women in formal or semi-formal situations as 'miss', no matter what their age. Girls and young women won't be offended, and the old ladies will squeal with delight.
