Overview
About Me
Hey there! I’m Francesca. I’m Italian and American, born in NY and raised in Calabria, Italy and Long Island. My world has alternated between the two countries and cultures, but I am somewhere in between! This gives me a unique perspective of the world around me and a deep yearning to connect with new people and learn about their cultures.
This inspired me to learn Spanish and French throughout college and to travel across Europe and North America.
Big fan of trying new food, budget traveling and animals. I live in Huntington, Long Island with my husband Gabriel and our two kitties! We love traveling and hiking together, and practicing languages (we share 5).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’d love to meet like-minded travelers and foster friendships, whether it’s here in NY or across the globe! I’m looking to truly connect with people through language, culture, common interests and ultimately find “my tribe.” So far in my life I’ve been very focused on my family, studies, career and relationship with my partner. I’m looking for friends who see the bigger picture, but appreciate the smalls things as well. I believe friendship is the glue of our world and one of the most valuable things we can share in our lifetimes. I can’t wait to swap travel stories and make some new memories!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love classic rock, indie, disco and a million other genres. I am obsessed with music (both old and new) and love to sing and dance.
Current movie obsession is Mamma Mia! and I’m finally watching the entire Avatar the Last Airbender series for the first time.
I’m definitely a big reader, especially since I finally got a Kindle in 2023!! It’s a game changer. Some of my favorite books include The Book Thief, The Thief Lord (lots of thievery lol), and The Alchemist. I love fiction since it’s a great creative escape. I’m also a lover of poetry and philosophy, and open to new recs!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I drove a van across Southern California for 11 days! Desert, mountain, beach. Record rains in Spring 2023 brought about the greenest hills and brightest flowers! Driving in the mountains humbles you.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to appreciate the value of organic materials and how to compost food scraps! Our food systems, environment and well-being are all interconnected.
I can also give you some life advice and language learning tips :) I’ve seen and learned a lot in my 23 years of life! I’m not a language teacher by any means, but I’d be happy to share how I became fluent in 4 languages and how I’m maintaining them.
I’m currently looking to learn basic clay pottery and start playing pickle ball and soccer! Trying to be on my phone less, and creating and connecting more.
What I Can Share with Hosts
