Why I’m on Couchsurfing
It's so long ago that I registered on Couchsurfing, that I don't remember my initial motives. Probably I was curious, but then decided I'm having too many special needs to stay on people's couches. Thus, I dismissed the idea, until this year (2018), when I was in urgent need of a place to sleep in a city where I had some things to do. Finally I checked it out and had a very rewarding experience. I suddenly noticed I CAN sleep on a couch and I totally enjoy meeting new people and getting glimpses into other people's worlds and lives. Now I want more of it :-)
At the moment I'm living with my boyfriend in a very small 1- room apartment in Hamburg and unfortunately it is really too crammed to receive guests. I hope this situation will change one day soon.
Interests
I love traveling and spent many years doing that in India, 23 years to be precise. Thus, India became more my second home than a travel destination. After about the first ten years going there, I found myself studying Indology at the University in Hamburg and after completing the master degree, I started a PhD project in Heidelberg. Thus combining the things I love most: spending time in my favorite country and being able to conduct research there (and occasionally even getting paid for it).
Sometimes (and much more than before) I also enjoy being in Germany, where I like to eat organic food, go for hikes in the nature, or I'm cycling (can't live without a bicycle!), yoga classes here are also great these days and I like to meet people, sit in Cafés or go for a drink in a bar.

Music, Movies, and Books
Coming originally from a Goa-trance background, I still love electronic music. Nowadays though I prefer it more soft and melodious - slow motion trance, deep, deep house etc. At the moment I'm fascinated by new music trends emerging from Berlin... projects like Rebellion der Träumer and DJ's like Elias Doré and Sangeet, my latest discovery: Aaristos.

Nevertheless, often I get along much better with people who don't share my taste of music ;-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I became friend of a fish. Was an incredible experience in India many years ago. I used to swim in the morning in the same spot in the sea and one day this fish came, a tiny, colorful one, who began swimming with me, on my body. He came again and again the next days. Until one day there came the storm, then we lost each other.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My smile, my laughter, my empathy and loads of life experience.
For the more mundane types: I can also cook quite fairly.
