About Me

Currently living in Mexico City but, unfortunately, it's not my place so can't have couchsurfers for the time being :( I am actually couchsurfing at my girlfriends house so..haha.
Half Mexican, Half US Citizen. Was born in USA but have lived most of my life in different cities in Mexico. I am rather quiet. I love pretty much anything to do with the outdoors and new experiences. I also love meeting people from other cultures because I´ve learned it expands my own horizons and knowledge.. I seriously wish everyone traveled more, I believe this makes better people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have noticed that people on here tend to have a mentality, personality, etc which I extremely enjoy! There are always so many things to learn about people which makes it great to have talks with them.

This is also an opportunity to meet people that I can learn so much from. Also, I love to travel as much as I can but accommodation sometimes is such a big part of the budget that I would rather spend it on longer trips, which is, in part, why I love camping...sleeping isn´t as expensive.

Interests

I love the outdoors (hiking, camping, swimming, fishing, etc). I am interested in design that is sustainable and/or has social impact. I think this has to do with the fact that I am from Mexico, and really want to do something to help out people through design. I am also really interested in anything related to World War II; don´t really know why but I have been for some years now and can´t get enough of it :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I don´t really have favorite kind of music, I´ve noticed it depends mostly on my mood; but if I had to choose some groups I would say: Maná, Coldplay, Radiohead, The White Stripes, Intocable, CocoRosie, Portishead, The XX, Carla Morrison, etc. As for movies, I remember when I was little it used to be Home Alone. I have also really reaaalllyyyy liked Requiem for a Dream, Donny Darko, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, Dragon Ball movies, Yellow Submarine, amongst others. I’ve noticed I loooove movies that have a twist to them, when everything is going one way and then BAAAAM! The unexpected happens. In the books department, I have read several about WWII: Because of Rommek, Hitlers story, Winter in Madrid, Night...In general: Veronika, The Alchemist, Harry Potter and A Song of Ice and Fire sagas, Pig Island, some John Grisham books. Pretty much anything to do with WWII, wether video or written, I will be into.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Usually work in Alaska during the summers. I go up there and live in a small island of about 2,000 people (Wrangell) and work in a fishery, where we usually work between 130-160 hours every 2 weeks.
-Also worked in a project after the earthquakes that hit Mexico in September of 2017. I was re building houses for people that had lost it all and it was an awesome job, until I found out the group I was working for was using donations for other things that had nothing to do with aiding damnified people.

Teach, Learn, Share

Love talking about my home country (Mexico) so that people can get to know what it really is like instead of just the typical Hollywood movies or the really bad news. I love talking about the problems we live in as a society because I want to dedicate my professional life to solving some of these problems through design. I love learning about other peoples lifestyles and cultures.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Can share my experiences traveling and living in Mexico, which I´ve noticed people in other countries find interesting. I can also teach some basic Mexican cooking, although I am no pro I have to admit!

Also, I try to go by the traveling ethic of: Leave a place better than you found it...
