ABOUT ME

Hey there,
Not sure about all these questions ... kinda feels like I am sitting in an interview ....
So I'm just gonna give a little blurb about what I do with most of my time Panama these days and hopefully it resonates with some of you.

I am currently living in a happening hood called El Cangrejo and working in Panama City. It's a bit crazy down here especially riding my bike, dodging lawless drivers honking every 2 seconds and swerving around crazy-ass pot-holes every morning as I head to work in the downtown core.

I work during the week as water engineer and project coordinator building green roofs and walls in different parts of town. It's always a laugh watching my crew trying to understand what the heck I a talking about at work with my primitive Spanish and flaring arm movements! Poor them! But I am totally up for the lost in translation game as it makes life way more intense when you are somewhat obligated to explain complex ideas in the vocabulary of a five year old...

But my time here in Panama is good. When I get out of work I try to get a bit of a workout doing Crossfit ... well Panamanian style... so not as crazy intense but still pretty awesome!

On the weekend I try to get out to Kuna Nega, a community located next to the city landfill... I am volunteering with Engineers Without Borders connecting houses to a potable water infrastructure network. It kinda just feels good to be able give back with what I have spent years learning in academia.

Apart from that I try get out of the city and catch the surf whenever I am not working or volunteering. I really love it. It's a sport that I do not get to enjoy back home in Montreal. It's so good to get out in the Sun and Waves, I like going to the beach but after sitting there for an hour or so I get bored, Jumping into the waves and tirelessly flapping around with a board trying to catch a ride on a wave is next level shit!

Interests

I try to be as active as possible by

Getting in the outdoors is my true passion (hiking, surfing, biking, diving, running, swimming)

For fun I run marathons, mountain cross-country and started to get into Crossfit competitions.

I volunteer with Engineers Without Borders on Saturdays rebuilding potable water pipelines for under-developed communities.

I also like hitting the dance floor and getting down whenever peeps are up for it!

Dorking out on fixing stuff, these days my bike is needing some lovin' ...
