About Me

UPDATE 2019: I am back in Tel Aviv but unable to host at the time. Will be happy to meet for coffee :) Also, I stream piano here: https://twitch.tv/FrankieSimon - come by and say you're from CS :)

The following text is what was written in my original CouchSurfing profile before CS changed their site to the current state.

ABOUT ME

If you contact me with a couch request, read this first!

- Please write as much as you can about yourself in your profile before sending a request. I (and everybody else on CS) would like to know as much as possible about the person you are.

- If you have no references, please ask your friends who might be CouchSurfers to write you some.

- Please have at least one photo of yourself.

- If you send me a Couch Request, please write my name in it, or any indication you have read my profile. Some copy-paste is understandable but when the whole message is generic, it's less.

- I will not host men who stated that they only want to host women.

About me: (work in progress)

Lived most of my life in Israel, but moved to France November '13. After a year and a half, I'm now moving around a lot (UPDATE 2016: Back in Israel for now).

I do a lot of different things, but mainly computer programming and playing piano. Here's my YouTube channel if you're interested :) http://www.youtube.com/FrankieSimon

I am a fan of great television shows (I love it when good writing meets excellent acting) and some video games, though I spend a lot less time on that compared to what I used to. I also love cinema but I feel that I don't know enough to be called a real expert.

I work as a freelancer, which means that when I'm hosting someone, though I'm making up my own schedule, I still have to spend a few hours a day (most days) with my laptop, during the weekdays I may be less available (though I do my best).

I haven't done a lot of About-Me writing in a long while, so sorry if it's a little vague. Feel free to talk to me to find out anything you might be missing :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I went to a few CS events, but I guess mostly my participation is hosting people. I also was sort of an ambassador of the Italian language in Israel for a bit, organizing a few meetings and trying to get the people interested in it together.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Met a bunch of great CS people in Rome. Once back in Israel, was sort of the ambassador of the Italian language for a while. After moving to my own place with no irritable flatmate, I was finally able to host people more freely, the longest one was for almost a month! :)

Interests

Good company and great conversation, good movies/tv, good food, responsible drinking :), playing piano, live concerts (performing / seeing), the internets.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: American Beauty (all time favorite). Also, Twelve Monkeys, Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Nina's Tragedies, Ikinai, Wristcutters: a Love Story...

Some TV shows I love: Six Feet Under, IMHO best TV show ever made, The Shield, Life on Mars (UK), Cracker (UK), The Lakes (UK),

Books: I don't read nearly as much as I should, but I still have a warm place in my heart for Italo Calvino's "If on a Winter's Night a Traveler..." which I got as a gift from a couch surfing host.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Posted an offer to play a piano concert in London in return for hosting, got a positive answer in less than 24 hours. The show was brilliant as well. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am fluent in Hebrew, English and Russian, and close to fluent in French - I don't know how to teach you the languages from scratch but I can definitely help out with any translations or to help you practice.

I studied Italian for a while but it's becoming rusty now. Still, I can maybe help some.

I play guitar and piano, and I can probably help you find the chords to any song you let me listen to (have perfect/near-perfect pitch).

I'm a programmer so I can maybe help out with some computer issues.
