HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

hosted a few people back home in Belgium; met people for a coffee when travelling in Japan

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

none yet as "real" couchsurfers in other people's houses - we did however welcome travellers from all over the world in our place, with and without couchsurfing...

Daily life in all its aspects (how people live, work, eat, study, love each other, have families, spend good time together, face the daily struggle...).
Kris is especially interested in everything that got to do with French style patisserie (baking, eating, where to find cooking materials).

We both love books, mainly fiction (literature) but also philosophy and sociology...
Françoise reads about a book a week so she comes across authors from all over the world. Kris now read 3 to 4 books a week as we still did not make to move to DSTV and he has plenty of time on his hands.
We love HBO-series (MadMen, True Blood, The Wire...) and English TV-series (Downton Abbey, Frost, Silent Witness...)
Music-wise there is a lot of French music at our place(Gainsbourg, Brel (he's Belgian, actually), Les ogres de Barback, les Têtes raides, Nougaro, Vian, Aznavour, Moustaki, Zebda and many more) but also enjoy Lhasa, The Cure (oh, nostalgia), Calexico, Amparanoia, latin-american revolutionary songs...

Naoshima modern art and nature;
Cycling on the bridges over Seto inland Sea in Japan;
Cakes and pâtisserie in Japan;

And else, some great hikes in the Alps, the Caribean near Cartagena in Colombia, the Karoo, buzzing Joburg, ice cream sampling in Genova,...

Françoise: interested in social history (people's history instead of kings, social struggle instead of wars...) - special interest in trade unions and their preoccupations all over the world.

Kris: can teach you all about baking amazing classical cakes and desserts... He's passionate about chocolates... (or you can try them)
