driving through Norway and Sweden to find great and adventurous spots for my new business: advanturous travels! it's kindof holiday and work at the same time..

ABOUT ME

In the winter of 2008 I decided that I temporarely wanted to quit my office job to travel to the Alps and become a ski teacher. That was a long-time wish and I thought that then was a good time as any. I never returned to the office and kept working and travelling for three more years and I loved it. I realised that this life style was way more close to who I am and what I wanted, I just never realised it was up for grabs.

Basically I'm enjoying life! I love to be around other people, I'm quite direct and assertive (as most Dutch :) and try to seize the opportunities that are presented to me.

I feel at home at most places, but Amsterdam is my real home. Im always excited to guide people through the city or supply with the insider tips. 90 % of all Amsterdam visitors have never seen the real Amsterdam. drugs & red light district is just a tiny part of the city, and not the most interesting to be honest.

If I go to other countries and cities I always prefer to stay with friends or acquintances. To experience a city through the eyes of a local adds about 200% to the experience!

PHILOSOPHY

I like to believe that you don't need to become anything but yourself. yeah, it sounds cheesy and it probably is but it's also what I believe in. To discover what you really (I mean really) want in and from life and go out to make that happen. Just do it! (again, a cheesy catchphrase but it has encouraged me to do stuff over time that I feel obliged to write Nike a thank you note..)

all that without taking life (and myself) too serious.

I have currently no home but that will be sorted in a few months. I do have a car so if you're travelling in Norway I might be able to give you a lift.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I love to show my city (Amsterdam) and meet new people. And the other way around. But as mentioned, untill summer 2011 no CS experience yet. But that's about to change I hope.

Interests

Im interested in practicing sports. I play Ultimate Frisbee, I'm teaching and loving skiing, I bike on my MTB and racebike and prefer uphill. And many other sports. Photography too.

I love to play the piano but I haven't had one in 10 years. so if I see one I try to get some time in.

I have discovered techno and electro festivals in Holland and like to attend some every summer season.

Im interested in organising stuff. Events, and ofcourse travels for my new organisation.

But mainly I'm interested in meeting inspiring people. To get new insights and to be challanged constantly. Out of the box kinda folks. Openminded people ofcourse.
People who say yes more likely then no. Who believe that going forward is more effective then thinking backwards.. (uuuh, does that add up ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

teach: I love to talk about previous experiences I have learned from. As anyone I learn most from 'mistakes' made and I'm happy to share those experiences to help others dealing with the same issues.
Most people ask me how I 'escaped' from everyday life.
That didn't happen from overnight but it's a story I love to share. It's also a story that is never done as Im still learning myself obviously.

learn: I try to surround myself with people who I can learn from. That can be critical when neccesary and that like to learn themselves too. Sometimes I learn stuff from unsuspected sources or unexpected encounters.
