About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find balance between my career, my house, and my hobbies! Hopefully enough to make space for children in the near future.

ABOUT ME

I've been on Couchsurfing a LONG time - these sections are from the original days! I'm a scientist, a nonbinary woman, a wife and dog mom. Even as I age I don't think I'm growing older, though perhaps a bit wiser.

A queer scientist, dog mom, and dancer who's married to Desmond 😁

PHILOSOPHY

I believe everything is connected. If you study something long enough, and learn its inner workings, you can find many many things that directly relate and coincide. Optimism with a healthy dose of knowing reality is the best way to live, why stop smiling? (edit - this is some early 2010's Alison - and i think it holds up!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been in and out; an experience i think many can find familiar during the pandemic. But as my life has changed, i find myself in the perfect situation again to host once more. With any luck, perhaps I'll start crashing too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Wonderful people, kind, friends in the making. Its been great so far! Its fun hosting. I had one stay that was also a delight. I've always enjoyed/loved the experience, and the most wacky turned into a friend that transcends international boundaries. I'm glad to get back to it with my spouse, Desmond.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sci Fi, fantasy, superheros were my go to, but I've started to really enjoy a narrative nonfiction. You can get me into a conversation about Anne McCaffery or Terry Pratchet just as easily as the Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks or Eve!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ran a performing steampunk circus troupe for about a year :) Happy to tell the tale!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to share my knowledge of science, and after the pandemic i think people have become much more aware how these things impact them. We can talk nerd culture too

I would love to learn more about anything; learning more about others perspective helps me develop my own.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to share a meal, a walk around the neighborhood with the dog, coffee or lively discussion.

Additionally, I'm sorry, but I cannot accept super last minute surfers.
