About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Celebrate and preserve natural ecosystems through science, art and writing
ABOUT ME
I study animal behavior, fire ecology and native peoples, prairie flora, birds, and the foraging ecology/communication of humpback whales
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I move extensively between Alaska and Hawaii (follow the whales) as well as the Olympic Peninsula and central California (where i conduct data analysis and write).
During the summer I live in an Alaskan lighthouse and small village with waterfalls, ancient forests, mountains and hot springs. You may visit the lighthouse as a volunteer, provided you find your way to island, and assist with lighthouse projects through the Juneau Lighthouse Association.

Music, Movies, and Books
Sam Harris, Bruno Geordano, personal field notebooks, the song of the Molokai humpback. I like most music if people are dancing! Also, i like all music that has been mixed or mashed with techo, dub or chill hop.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sit quietly in wilderness (preferably on a rock outcrop above an ancient forest) and attempt to bring the diversity of life under a single theoretical umbrella. I also swam out to an island to gaze upon blooming cactus...
Teach, Learn, Share
i can share the motivation of animals, especially birds and baleen whales.
