ABOUT ME

Playful, whimsical, open-minded guy. Vegan, gay, single, and have spent the majority of my life as an animal advocate, working to end cruelty to animals. Strive to live a sustainable life and reduce my impact on the planet. Love nature and the outdoors. Don't drink, smoke, or do drugs, even though I have many friends who partake in these activities.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is best described in the book The Power of Now: live in the present, don't cause yourself misery, and recognize that all misery is self-inflicted. :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have definitely had my life enriched from kind people who have let me stay at their place while I hitch-hiked throughout Great Britain one summer, and during my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2010.

Interests

Music, guitar, dancing, reading, jokes, laughing, nature, outdoors, hiking, wild edibles, canoeing, biking, living sustainably and humanely, swimming, bird watching, mushrooming, basket weaving, etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love reading. Read a lot of field guides, naturalist, self help, psychology, and evolutionary psychology books. Also read sci-fi and fantasy, and anything else that comes along.

Consider myself a problem TV watcher so limit my watching of TV and movies to 3 hours a week.

Love alt rock, indy rock, and anything danceable. Female vocals a plus. Some favorites include: Lily Allen, Chumbawamba, Black Kids, Liz Phair, Hockey, The Killers, My Chemical Romance, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From March 19 to December 19, 2010 I thru hiked all 2,178 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I met hundreds (thousands?) of people from all walks of life and experienced so much. It was truly amazing. I've seen 16 wild bears, met wild moose face-to-face, and had my eyes opened to so many new possibilities. Can't say enough good things about it. :-)
