About Me

CURRENT MISSION

there are plenty of alternatives! .. let's get the word out and........ let's degrow!

PHILOSOPHY

live and let live.

but do reflect what you are causing with your way of life!

and in general....why not help oneanother on the way; make it much easier! /just a little bit easier/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

when i'm at home you're most welcome to crash at my place anytime! i have not been hosting too much lately because i had a baby... and when i'm on the road, couchsurfing is by far my favourite way of traveling!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i have surfed all the way through east africa, from ethiopia to south africa (which took me four months and was amazing!) then i hosted a bunch of people in dresden.

Interests

i like to collect records and to make films sometimes. i'm doing lots of music/art/event-organizing stuff in dresden, germany -> http://www.tagtraeumerproductions.de ...that is nothing one can live off though, it's something me and my friends do out of passion, money is not the point here. we go outside in the summer and build stages somewhere in the forest or on some field and have concerts & parties of the special kind. if you're ever in dresden in the summer, go visit that website and come along when something's on! this kind of self-organised underground-culture and the encounters that happen there give me the momentum that i need to go on doing everything else i'm doing.

more importantly, i think that we have to radically rethink economics. i don't think that the path we (or rather our parents and grandparents) chose during the last ~100-200 years is one that we can continue to walk on. we need to start collaborating instead of competing, we need to establish commons instead of corporations, we need to start to work on the real problems just as effectively, as we are trying to make profit off everything today. and we urgently need to drop this insane paradigm of infinite quantitative growth on a finite planet! for me, this has to be a bottom-up process and if you come to dresden, i would be very happy to show to you what we are doing around here, trying to build a resilient city. lets inspire each other and make the good life for all happen — i am certain that it is possible and that we are the last generation that can get it done without severe implications on global peace and ecology (or rather on what's left of it)

don't get me wrong, things as they are today don't make me bitter , sad, or super-serious – to the contrary! i am seeing more and more people who are questioning our western consumption-patterns and this rat race's supporting structures in the background. This really really gives me hope that we, ourselves, will be able to overcome this current status quo.

but please don't think that i don't like to talk to people who have a different opinion on this (or any other) issue. i think that every conversation is enriching and i would never believe my position to be the (only) right one! that's what traveling is about, right? exchanging concepts, cultures and opinions.

and please don't worry; i'm not talking about economics and politics all the time! actually i like to spend most of my evenings drinking beer. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

actually i am studying at uni to become a secondary school teacher for english and computing studies. i'd like to support young people roaming to grasp this world. but i think it is going to take me quite a while until i will have finished my studies...you know, i am doing a lot beside university.

apart from that, i really like to learn things from people instead of books. i think real experiences and face-to-face-conversation are worth so much more. i am very much looking forward to meeting some of you interesting people out there so you can share some of your precious stories and opinions!
