About Me

Hello! I am Frieda. Currently I am working as a waitress but I am applying for a Master's Degree in Linguistics. I worked as a waitress this year because I decided to take a break from academics after finishing my Bachelor's degree in World Politics last year. I wanted more experience in the 'real world' and learn more about myself outside of school. It gave me the opportunity to spend time with friends and see new places. I am going back to school because I love learning new things, about anything. So if you have a passion, tell me everything!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be traveling through Eastern Europe with my best friend, and we want to experience the places as they really are, not as they are seen by tourists. The best way to do so is to meet locals, as they know and live in the real world. Couchsurfing is an amazing way to get in contact with locals, and thereby see the places as they know them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love any type of music with a good beat. Folk, pop, country, jazz, whatever. If I can feel it in my heart I'm in. My favorite book changes every few months, depending on what book I am reading ;) All time favorites are Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, Mythos (by Stephen Fry) and The 100-year Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared (By Jonas Jonasson). Movies is the same story, I love a lot. But Now is Good, Harry Potter, and Coco are some of my favorites!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Overcome depression. During my Bachelor studies a lot of people close to me passed away. In combination with the performance anxiety I already had, my mental health spiraled. It took a while, but with therapy and help from people around me I overcame it. It still surprises me sometimes how much I've grown these few years since, and how I can look at the world and love all it brings with it.

Teach, Learn, Share

My motto is Life's too short to find matching socks. Yes, because I never wear matching socks, but also because I like the thought behind it. Don't be too busy with the details while letting life pass by. I learned that after my depression, yes there are a lot of bad things in the world, but don't let it ruin it for you. You can choose what to focus on and thereby make it as great as you want it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an open minded person who loves to learn. I would love to share an experience that can only happen in this unique situation. Yes, I can teach you Dutch (cooking), but I think we can learn from each other mostly because I am me and you are you and we are different. But we're also similar, otherwise we wouldn't like this site and community so much. Learning from each other by getting to know each other and our different backgrounds is I think one of the most special things that could happen through Couchsurfing.
