About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Find what I'm passionate about and give myself fully to it

ABOUT ME

I love meeting new people and exploring new places. I love to cook, take walks, and share in the experience of the little moments that make every day magical. Scrabble and various card games are part of my favorite past times, as are listening to music and watching independent films. I love to learn, be it about other languages or the perspectives of those around me.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is best summarized through three of my favorite quotes:

“Peculiar travel suggestions are dancing lessons from God.” - Kurt Vonnegut

"Your work is to discover your world and then with all your heart give yourself to it." -Buddha

"Life was an accident. But living was a choice. Now he realized that it was up to him to decide."
~Patrick O'Leary, The Impossible Bird

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love Couchsurfing! Through it I've met some amazing people, had great conversations, and seen some beautiful places.

I'm not quite in a position to offer a couch to sleep on yet, but I am more than willing to show people around whatever town I happen to be living in at the moment or recommend cool things to do in places that I have visited.

Interests

I love traveling, hearing stories, reading, cooking, learning languages, teaching, and cats.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music, movie, and book favorites change a lot as I discover new ones.

However, these are my current, newer favorites.

Music:
- Ed Sheeran
-Sara Bareilles
-Patrick Bruel
-Vienna Teng

I like independent, well-made films, and have a tendency of of analyzing the quality of the production. With the exception of horror movies, I like many different types of movies ranging from The Counterfeiters to Mamma Mia.

I'm also addicted to several TV shows, including Doctor Who, Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Les Revenants, and Girls.

I love reading, though I don't always have enough time to dedicate to it as I would like. Some of my favorite authors include random French authors from the 1800s, Patrick O'Leary, Neil Gaiman, and Terry Pratchett. I also love the Kingslayer Chronicles and the Hunger Games series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There have been a lot of little moments in my life that have struck me with wonder at how beautiful this world can be....

Once in Togo, I shared a midnight motorbike ride with two friends, through a light rain, moon shining overhead, the darkened magical landscape of the north of Togo around us.

In Morocco, I've hidden beneath blankets as a sandstorm broke out in the desert, and then quickly traveled back to our lodging by camel in rain and hail. That's something I never expected to experience in a desert. The next morning we hiked to the top of a sand dune to watch the sun rise.

I'm always taken by the little moments in life: the kindness of strangers, the beauty of something old or new...

Teach, Learn, Share

Many of my friends consider me to be the resident chief, so I can share a well-cooked meal (vegetarian friendly) for sure. I love learning about other languages and can share what I know of French and Arabic. I love a good conversation.
