I love traveling, learning languages, learning about other countries and cultures...
When I can't travel, I like teaching German to foreigners, also because this way, I'm in touch with people from different countries, different cultures and backgrounds and I can learn a lot, too!
Also like to explore the surroundings of Berlin (usually by bicycle), trying to get to know the area around the city better and better. Taking photos of butterflies and bugs is rather a good substitute for taking photos in the streets while traveling in other countries!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to Couchsurfing, though I traveled quite a lot and often did sleep on someone's couch or floor. Sometimes people I knew before, friends or friends of friends, sometimes people I met there. Being able to stay with locals offers so many more possibilities for really getting to know a place than staying in more or less anonymous hotels/hostels! I hope to be able to do more couchsurfing, even in places where people are unlikely to invite strangers on the street.
I'm traveling right now, but hope to do more when I'm back in Germany! I only have a small studio, but can offer a spare mattress... or at least maybe meet for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

Books: Lots! Love to read... Though at the moment more books about photography than fiction. Or if fiction: at least trying to read books in Turkish or Uzbek.
Music: eclectic: Blues, Rock, Mongolian, Arabic, Mahmud Salomov, Puto Production...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Managed to convince a crew of Chinese road workers in Tajikistan to let a family pass through, even though the road was officially closed during the day, so that they could go to a funeral... translating between Chinese and Uzbek.

Apart from explaining German grammar (trennbare Verben, Auslautverhärtung, Passiv mit Modalverben in all the tenses), I could tell you about Toolbox for Linguists, a really great software to analyse languages and build your own dictionary.
