Overview
About Me
I am a musicologist and enthusiastic researcher who loves sitting for days in dark archives digging into the vast knowledge of past worlds, or travelling to remote places to meet avid musicians and listen to musics I had not heard before. I am currently pursuing an ethnographic and historic research project on Burmese musical cultures but am immensely curious about any kind of music and performance art.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I enjoy meeting new people, listen to their stories, and seeing a place through their eyes.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a little bit suspicious of favourites. Isn't every experience relative, and is not every book we read and music we listen to a formative experience that changes us, turns us into a new person with new preferences? I admire people who have settled on favourites as I keep shifting from one favourite book to the next. My favourite book maybe is the one I have not yet read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I heard the silence in a Moroccan desert. It was overwhelming.
Teach, Learn, Share
I teach musicology at Göttingen University. I am always happy to share my knowledge about music and sound and the history of it's study. But I am even more interested to learn more about your own ways of listening and musicking.
