ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Marja Katariina. I’m always excited to connect with others who appreciate beauty, kindness, and a touch of adventure.
I jointed the CS many years ago but have not been so active (only once visited Panarea, see review) and my guest room has been occupied but now I have started to welcome surfers always when possible, when I am at home and do not have other visitors. I'm easy going, friendly person, interested in many things in this world. The nature is vital for my well-being, I love animals, outdoors, arts and music, travelling and quiet life reading a book with a cat on my lap. Encounters with new people enriches one's life. Each person is like a book with her own story.
I appreciate that my son often accompagnies me in travels, as we both like to meet people and to explore different cultures.
Finland is the country of my birth but I have been living in Sweden for many years. CS shows that there is so much kindness in this world even it does not feel like that when listening to daily news in tv.

PHILOSOPHY

Miracle is not to fly in the air but to walk on this planet. We - the universum's eyes - are the miracles! The life, the universum is a miracle, one cannot stop to wonder and admire it. Let's enjoy our time on this planet loving each other, animals and nature. Show love and care while here on the earth.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted travellers in my parents home when still at school. In my twenties I travelled by myself in the Middle East countries for some months and was often invited to stay in families. I have both hosted and been hosted via HC (Hospitality Club). Through HC I have visited Sicily and Malta and people have stayed in my place. Friendly, nice people and interesting, beautiful places!

Interests

Travelling, literature, outdoors (skiing, swimming, snorkling, hiking), arts, photo, culture, science, etc. I love animals and nature.
I'm a creative person living in Stockholm. I like to meet interesting people and all the time learn more about life. Humanism and healthy habits! The whole life and people's interaction in it belong to my interest sphere. Carl Sagan and David Attenborough are the persons I admire.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Vulcano erruptions, vulcanic bubbles in the sea bottom while snorkling (Panarea, thanks David), feeding fishes with bananas when snorking in Domenican R., in thunder storm climbing over the mountains to the Death Valley in Egypt, stayed with beduins in Petra, experienced the great hospitality in the most kind and amable family in Oman (thanks Manal), skiing in Lapland in spring time... and so many other experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

Breakfast, food and travel stories. Show you nice places to swim by the lake nearby. You can ski just behind my place if there is snow (boots no. 38 and 42 available for skies). Maybe a visit to Dalarna, to our country house to experience a different part of Sweden.
