Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Life often takes unexpected turns, and my journey to Couchsurfing is no exception. I was planning my first trip to New York City in December, a place I've longed to explore. To my surprise, an ex-girlfriend I hadn't seen in seven years but had kept in touch with, lived in Brooklyn.

When I shared my New York travel plans with her, she greeted the idea with enthusiasm and offered me to stay at her place. The excitement of her offer was palpable, and we swiftly confirmed a date for my visit.

However, just as quickly as the offer came, it disappeared. We confirmed a date, and I even bought my plane ticket, but a few days later I received a text message in which she tried to revisit a discussion we had 8 years ago. I chose not to engage in the argument and asked her to be transparent about what she felt, to which she replied that we are not friends and that my visit is not worth her hospitality.

While disheartening, it led me to Couchsurfing, a silver lining in disguise.

I see this change as an opportunity to connect with fellow travelers and locals, making the most of my time in New York. I look forward to an unforgettable week, determined to create the best memories, new friendships, and captivating stories in the Big apple :)

Algo increíble que he hecho

One of the most extraordinary experiences of my life was living within a tight-knit community of farmers nestled deep within the breathtaking Chicamocha Canyon in Colombia. During my stay, I called a tent inside the humble abode of an elderly couple my home. My days were filled with the rewarding task of teaching math and English to both the children and the adults of the community.

In this remote corner of the world, there was no phone signal, and water was a precious resource. Despite the challenges, my time with this community was transformative. I witnessed the incredible determination and thirst for knowledge within the children and teenagers. Following my stay, many of them not only excelled but also passed their governmental academic tests, opening doors to pursue higher levels of education.

This experience taught me the true value of human connection and the power of education to uplift lives. I am forever grateful for the moments I shared with this community, and I carry the lessons learned from the Chicamocha Canyon with me as I continue my journey through life.
