ABOUT ME

People call me Taft. I don't remember when it caught on, but some how it's held surprisingly strong. I'm a very eclectic person, and consequently a very open-minded person. I like to write, draw, skate, read, listen to music, make music, learn new instruments, learn new things, learn new people. I like exploring, a lot. So that is what I do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Up to this point I've somewhat neglected this network, I still live with my parents so accommodating travelers becomes an awkward, confusing dance of words between my parents and I. But I believe that what comes around goes around, and I've tried to help the travelers in my own city countless times. It's hard to explain over the internet the value of a group of friends that can influence your life so greatly that are almost invisible to the rest of society. I don't know.

Interests

Anything I'm interested in. I'll keep it short and blunt, I suppose. Music, people, books, journals, coffee, waking up in the middle of the city before it does, I like smoked salmon, but I don't think that's really an interest, I like cute girls that smoke more cigarettes than I do, I like folk-punk, I like wearing aviators sometimes because I look cool but I love when I have to take them off and switch them with my real glasses to see things again, it's humbling, I like the idea of Wabi-Sabi, I find beauty in the broken things, and the different things, and the unique. I like beautiful things.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't really watch many movies.

I read as many books as I can, honestly. I'll read anything. I like Vonnegut and Chuck Palahniuk and H.P. Lovecraft and Pat Frank and many others.

I like a lot of music, growing up I listened to a lot of Daft Punk and Justice and other electronic music, and then I found Hip Hop with Jay Electronica, Mos Def, and Das Racist, I love Zeppelin, the Beatles, and the Stones, and everything else, really. I've found my niche in Folk Punk, for the time. I have a soft-spot for the boundless witty and somewhat self-effacing lyricism the genre has.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing.. man. There are a lot of things.

This one really pretty girl's smile is pretty amazing. And I'm glad I got to see it in Savannah before leaving.

There are more things, but beauty is subjective, and conveying feelings in a moment of wonder is quite a hard thing to do.
