TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

I feel that one or two city in a country cannot represent how the whole country is like. So I post here the cities/provinces I've traveled. If you have traveled/lived in the same city. Cool, let's talk about it.

China: Guizhou(hometown), Hainan, Beijing(too big), Dalian(university), Suzhou, Hangzhou
Taiwan: Taipei, Taitung, Hsinchu, Taichung, Kaohsiung (can't forget Taiwan)
Hong Kong (Brits love it)

UK: London, Oxford, Liverpool, Manchester (London is entirely different from any other cities in Britain)
Egypt: Cairo (chaotic but fun), Alexandria(beautiful Mediterranean city)
France: Paris (5 days, lived in 15 Ar)
Italy: Venice, Rome (not so good as I expected)
Switchland: Geneva, Bern (small developed towns and beautiful nature view)
Belgium: Brussels (European version London?)
Germany: Berlin(love there!German are so well English-speaking)

ABOUT ME

I haven't travelled abroad until I'm 21. It's all begin with an accidental exchange to Taiwan. Well - everything is still Chinese - but the difference was apparent. Taiwan provides me a mirror to review mainland China.

The same year I started my new life in the UK, a country I never been before. Frustrating the first stage. I doubted, lost - until now I'm not sure if I've found out that was the right thing. I love London - but not sure if I'm right for London, or London is right for me. I would say sometimes you find me super-westernised but sometimes just Chinese.

Now I'm travelling Taiwan again in a gap after study and before job. I'm going to look for a journalism job in Beijing in November. Before that, I come to Taipei again to meet people who have helped me - classmates, workmates, friends. Because of Hukou(Chinese household systems) restrictions, I'm not able to travel Taiwan before I get a resident status in Beijing. I miss here a lot. So I made the journey here to meet these nice people again, consulting life and career.

ABOUT YOU (Host or Guest)

I'm looking forward to making friends! While in London I always try to talk to a wide range of people in spite of their age, ethics religion, job, lifestyle, sexual orientation, etc. For my, diversity is good. As long as you are tolerant to any difference, we'll share and learn a lot!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend has shared her CS experience about the nice hosts she had spent time with. Of course I'm jealous. Couch surfing is not easy but worth trying.

Why am I a good guest?
I'm clean and tidy. I respect the host's lifestyle - it doesn't matter what you like, as long as you're open to talk we would find something common and get alone with each other.
Though haven't got couch surfing experience, there're some references from Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/users/reviews?id=31999953

Interests

Culture, religion, diversity of the world.
I'm generally interested in everything. Maybe studying journalism opens my mind very much. If people live in different part of the world think and behave the same that would be a disaster.
Just be open to talk to me, I would like to discuss everything with you from personal cultural experience to world politics.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a very music/movie or bookish person. I enjoy all of them but person to person communication is always my favourite way to spend leisure time.

Don't get me wrong, I do have music preference.
JJ Lin is always my favourite singer. I listen to different genres of songs according to how I feel in a time. Recently I like Cold Play and lite rock with R&B.

Movies - action is really not my love - others like love story would be good.
So far my favourite movie series are Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and Before Midnight. I love them because I think they are almost the real life about love.

Books - nonfictions most, now read more English book. I'm reading a book about Syria and two books about North Korea recently.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flew to Egypt from London in April 2015 - without telling my parents at the beginning because of the concern on political situation there. I SPENT WONDERFUL TIME THERE, thanks to my lovely Egyptian friends, who took me to get every delicious local food.

Come let's talk about others face to face..

Teach, Learn, Share

anything really - I said I would talk with you from the world topic to personal experiences and opinions.
If you speak Chinese and English, we could try talk in both languages. Quite often I feel I talk so much differently when I speak different languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Living in London, feel multicultural life in person - I was stunned about how people could have so much different life there. In September I lived in a Muslim community area in east London. It was wonderful.
The journey in Egypt - mind-blowing to me.
Journalism and what is matter about the world.
