About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To swing fully on the pendulum of dichotomy - funny/serious, intelligent/drunk, ballet/rugby.

ABOUT ME

I'm a very amateur polymath. Dabble in everything, never too deep. Playing music keeps me in good head space. I learned to dance on the stage, so I'm a bit awkward in pairs. I am very fastidious when in someone else's home. A quote - "Rugby is a hooligan's game played by gentlemen. Soccer is a gentlemen's game played by hooligan's." I love all aspects of Rugby - the tackling, rucking, i.e. the violence. In my personal life, I am, in contrast, a very mild-mannered person.

PHILOSOPHY

Single-minded dichotomy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a summer in Bavaria when I was only sixteen. My host brother and I bummed around a bit - Austria, Luxembourg, and Northern Italy. I toured with my brother's folk trio around the American Northeast - no hotels - for four weeks.

Interests

Uniquity, word invention, linguistics, absurdity. Wine, cheese, food. RUGBY. The x and y axes of nature and nurture have found me specialized in text composition, singing, and the humorous arts.

Music, Movies, and Books

Motorcycle Diaries. Aronofsky . Rushmore. Boogie Nights. The Queen.
The entire Tom Waits library (*Rain Dogs), Thelonious Monk, Bela Fleck.
The entire Tom Robbins library (*Fierce Invalids), Collapse, Middlesex, The Corrections, The Descent of Man.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I released a heinously raunchy rap album when I was seventeen (I am very very white). It sold well.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make very good creme brulee from scratch. I can make a bed hospital-tight. I can clean a fish. I can perform mind-reading tricks. I practice the art of conversation, like a true southern belle. I can explain the rules of rugby to almost anyone. I know the guitar or piano parts to about thirty Tom Waits tunes.

Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, New Caledonia, Philippines, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
