ABOUT ME

I grew up in rural Devon, South West England, playing in a wild garden, riding mountain bikes, drinking cider. I went to art school, made sound installations, wrote poetry and studied postmodern theory, Freud and Marx. I lived in London, a playground for experimentation, I cycled everywhere, even in the rain. I worked on live music events and festivals. I performed in a band, DJed in clubs, read poetry in cafés. I taught DJing and music production to teenagers. I got into yoga, parkour and lindy hop. I came home to Devon, went to university and trained to be a primary school teacher. I started playing the guitar. I lived by the beach, I learned to surf. I worked in a school and taught 8 and 9 year olds.

AND NOW...

I have been travelling in Central and South America since October 2014. I hope to find teaching work in another country and live somewhere outside of England.

PHILOSOPHY

I always try to enjoy life and learn from what it gives me. I try to be aware of others and to be generous.

Although I am not a regular participator in the CS community I have been hosted abroad and been a host myself at home. I love the fact that this community exists and look forward to meeting more people in the future.

When I was young, my brothers and I used to recite whole passages of dialogue from the film, 'Wayne's World'. We were also big fans of 'The Labyrinth' too. As an adult, I enjoy all kinds of films. Tarantino's last two movies were awesome.

Music is always in my life, I started DJing when I was 16 and this has been my gateway into so many different genres of music, whether electronic, acoustic, underground, old classics, world, jazz, hip hop, country - whatever! I discovered 'champeta' in Colombia and loved it! One album that I will never tire of listening to is 'Graceland' by Paul Simon.

Travelling has given me the opportunity to read lots of great books I've discovered on the shelves of hostel book exchanges! I love the random element in this too. Stand out books have been - 'Blood Meridian' by Cormac McCarthy, 'Snow Falling on Cedars' by David Gutterson and 'Ubik' by Phillip K Dick (I love Science Fiction). I also enjoy reading books of a philosophical or spiritual nature, 'The Power of Now' by Eckhart Tolle made a big impression on me.

Working with my closest friends to create an annual music festival in England - putting on a big party for people is simply a wonderful thing to do.
