Clarke such as The Lion of Comarre and Against the Fall of Night, anything by Peter Hessler such as Oracle Bones, anything about China, especially its history and culture. As for music I like almost anything, love Dionne Warwick, Woody Guthrie, Abigail Washburn and the Shanghai Restoration Project, Junior Kimbrough, William Onyeabor, Vampire Weekend, Delta blues, classical. Recently I've been watching a lot of spy films based off John Le Carre novels like The Spy Who Came in From the Cold and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
