About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting settled in the land of tulips, windmills and awesome cheese. :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a free spirit (and yes, that's intimately related to Nietzsche's freier Geist), and Respect is mandatory (can't tolerate racism or prejudice of any kind.)
I try to get the best out of life, even when I'm short on money, which happens pretty often.
Started getting my degree in History back in 2003, gave up after 6 months, and now I'm (re)starting my degree in Computer Science. After I get done with that, I'll probably go back to that History degree. :)

Random facts: scared of clowns; metal-plated broken ankle; owned a motorcycle for over 2 years but could only ride for 6 weeks (unrelated to broken ankle); love coffee and COOKIES (and the dark side)!; yeah, Star Wars fan too; second-hand books = <3; abuse parenthesis and "PS"s; got a collection of happy meal toys; Brazilian who's never been to Rio; I can dance samba but then I have to kill the eye-witnesses; played nearly all instruments in a band except for the bass guitar which is my current obsession; love cheese.

PS: Don't be scared by all tattoos, piercings and music taste. People say I'm the sweetest (with a hint of sour) cupcake at heart. ;)

PHILOSOPHY

The moment our will to learn and live life to its fullest disappears, we're as good as dead.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted people, while living in São Paulo and in my hometown as well (São José dos Campos). Then I went backpacking for 6 weeks between May and June/2011 and met some of the greatest people in my life.

CS, for me, is not a way to visit places "on a budget". It is, most importantly, a way to meet unique individuals, who luckily become friends, share their lives, their passions and especially their love for where they live.
It is not a "free couch to crash", but a great and rewarding experience.
So cherish your hosts! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ok, my first experience was meeting a couchsurfer, who by the way, surfs a lot! (Mikael, from Sweden :D)
Then I hosted two girls also from Sweden, Emelie and Susanne.
And then, a third swede, blimey! Joel, who adorably named me "Friend of the Swedes", hah!
I loved all experiences, and hope our paths may cross again the future.
In all cases, I was glad they weren't all too interested in "typical tourist" activities, but rather enjoyed walking around and seeing the cities as a local would see it every day.
I believe a good CS Experience involves not only sight-seeing, but also seeing the little things that we grow to love about our cities - that special sunrise/sunset somewhere, that unknown little restaurant with the best snacks, that small pub with good beer and an endless supply of good laughs!

Interests

Music, movies, computers, games, books, travelling, getting in touch with people from different cultures and learning from them.
Oh, I keep a "Beer Book" in which I collect labels from the different ones I try, so anyone who's into savouring good beer (not drinking massive amounts of whatever piss-like booze) is more than welcome to join me!
Also, no drugs except for caffeine ;) (but each to his/her own business as long as there's RESPECT above all things.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting the Parthenon in Athens, Greece, which was a childhood dream, ever since I read a Greek Mythology book in elementary school.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can do knitting, crochet, sewing, decoupage (love all sorts of crafts and artsy activities, really! Surprise surprise), cooking (not amazingly, but no complaints or casualtie so far), and I love learning languages, so I'd be more than glad to exchange some lessons!
I also love photography but haven't had the money to buy a decent camera yet (all I have is a battered point-and-shoot model) but still would appreciate to learn from photographers, what do they "see" and how they try to capture "it".

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
