About Me

CURRENTLY ON THE ROAD / BY THE ROAD / ON THE PATH / AMONGST THE COWS / (and at some bar hopefully if destiny is generous)

Since the beginning of autumn 2019 me and my partner in adventure Jacob left our not so steady lifes for some more adventure!

Starting in Croatia we are planning to hike the Dinaric Alps and travel through Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, down through Greece to Turkey and hopefully settle there for the winter.

If anyone is going through these countries or some funny and kindhearted locals want to meet and exchange good times - we would be happy as kids to share some road stories or maybe some traveling time together:)

We also have ideas to stay longer in Turkey and settle in Izmir and find places to volunteer at refugee community centers and work on our projects, and when the spring 2020 springs up go to Georgia, Armenia and Iran. Shoot me a message if you know anything about possibilities to find community projects that are looking for volunteers or generally anyone around these places we could meet!

Ačiū, grazie, dzenkuje, thank you! :)))

-------- --------- -------- ---------

I grew up in Lithuania, where the 90's brought with them so much novelty and confusion that I still remember most of my childhood in an inexplicably bright fashion. To this day I relate to that wondrous mindset, affected by old Italian hits, soundtrack of Titanic, Mexican telenovelas, black humor, and the Soviet legacy on the other side.
These days, a lot of my time is regulated by spontaneity, venture and I also think, that most memorable things in life come unplanned. You just have to enjoy the moment! Participate in every passing minute using whole 5 senses, and you'll never get bored or upset. Anytime, anywhere...
As much as I love my studies, I feel keen for the life after. Being continuously told by the elder how life is only going to get more and more strenuous, I naturally learnt to act exactly opposite. In the end, now if I was to look back, I feel I am only living more and more authentically, how I actually feel I should. And if it seems I don't - I just change it to conform to my bright visions. Since trying different ways to explore and experience life on Earth has been continuously expanding - I feel there is always interesting times ahead.
Most of my experiences is due to my huge curiosity, which have led me to wonder whether am I actually very naïve and stupid, or brave and confident. The boundaries of the two blur quite a lot, apparently, but at least I am sure I am open-minded. This reflects best in the list of my dream professions, that include being football referee, stuntman, astronomer, and... currently I'm most interested in becoming a documentary photojournalist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Always unexpected. Always thrilling, always leaving me wanting for more. No, really, I somehow ended up in so many joyous, random, fascinating, warning, dangerous, helpless, unbelievable, ridiculous and remarkable situations that I think once you 're into it you can never get out of it.

Interests

Since I first saw and held Zenit in my hands - photography, but also cycling, hiking, mountains! Having grown up in hilly areas at best, I think the beauty and staggering peace hanging around the mountains will never cease to amaze me. I also love yoga, dancing, ahhh, how much I love to dance a night away without noticing the morning dawns creeping in... astrology, esotericism, dreams, aromatherapy, alternative medicine... again, I grew up surrounded by these Baltic women who attain strong witchy sides to them... and theatre! When watching the performance, all my mind is focused on it. This is a remarkable experience, when you disassociate yourself from the environment...a bit misterious moment, but that's why it is so attractive.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: French classics, Eastern European and Soviet, Scandinavian (their dark comedies especially), Lars von Trier, Tarantino, Milos Forman, Kaurismaki, Kieslowski, Kar-Wai, to mention a few ... when I think of them, the ones that stand out in my mind are: 'Perfect sense', 'Dancer in the dark', 'In a search of a midnight kiss', 'Loves of a Blonde', 'Kin-Dza-Dza', 'Tanets Deli', 'Twice Born', Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind'...

Music: Sigur Ros, Lykke Li, Buena Vista Social Club, Onra, Little Dragon, Son Lux, Dakha Brakha, FKA Twigs, latin, African, French, electro, Baltic pagan folk, Balkan, Turkish, dub, jungle, cumbia!

Books: especially fascinating when you read them on long journeys in trams/buses.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That I prefer to share in person!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an optimist. If chaos happen, things go unplanned, things don't happen, people lead you on, you're betrayed, sad, lonely, lost and even empty - that's amazing! Welcome to being as fully human as possible, and even more - entitled to get a grasp of things not everyone usually does.
Life is a ride, a carousel, a film of moving scenarios, its the most inspiring, colourful, fulfilling thing you can actually feel. You can always think, say 'what a human I would like to be like would do' and act differently, see what happens, then have a glass of wine, write down your insights, put on 3 coats and some jewellry, bike down to harbour, get into a bar and chat up some drunken ginger lady, have a cigarette and go throw stones betting if your's goes further - you will go to South America by boat working in one, if hers - in a boat you own; Life has so many scenarios, and so no one actually cares what you do that this is where the freedom of imagination can flourish, just do what you want to do, get rejected, and do it again, we finally meet people that love the reality of us, not only a charming idea about us. And then we can share, grow, exchange with each other.
I believe that no one should try fixing another person. Its like trying to make a white rose pink, which is nonsense, its beautiful the way it is, if you don't like white ones go look further for the pink, leave the white enjoy itself.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to walk, hike, bike, take trains/buses and just go until they terminate. I enjoy the taste of wine, just as the taste of being mischievous. Also drawing, playing games, experimenting with cooking, talking shit or having 'serious' conversation about politics and economy; I like to listen. I can teach you useless Lithuanian expressions, or irrelevant pagan superstitions; I'm quite spontaneous, but I also like when other people share suggestions, though if I feel like cosily sitting in a shared silence, I might most honestly say no to drinks and party, and vice versa:)

Also, I like doing photoshoots, if anyone wants one
