ABOUT ME

A lot of my friends would probably say I'm a cross between a big dork and a responsible adult. It's hard to pinpoint a common description of me because I keep a wide variety of friends from Construction Workers, to Wind-Power operators, to Stock Brokers, to Parking Lot Attendants, to Artists of all shapes and sizes; the list goes on.
So my last job was as an "Investment Consultant" for a discount stock brokerage called TD Ameritrade, but my degree is in Theatre Arts (Acting) and I also just finished a lead role in a Neil LaBute play. I'm known to mix with many different crowds (as I mentioned before). I can hob-nob at the Hilton (my recent Cabo trip), or enjoy a good dive bar (The Blue Moon in Seattle), I love getting outdoors (went sailing recently on my friend Richard's sailboat) (just hiked Camelback Mountain in Phoenix). I'll tell you more in my "interests" section, but just know that I really love to immerse myself in different circumstances.

PHILOSOPHY

Boy, big question. I guess, in general, it's that the best way to help/teach people is to live by example. Unsolicited advice is rarely taken and living your own convictions always stands out. Also, stay open and learn as much as you can, enough to know that you'll never stop and that the amount you don't know is immeasurable.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I'm open to having people stay at my place, but I happen to be out on a long road-trip at the moment, so you'll have to wait!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Once I got to Edinborough, Scotland at midnight and all the Hostels were already closed, so I went to sleep on a bench and the ladies that directed me to the bench had a friend who offered me a place to stay. It all worked out rather swimmingly and I'll return the favor if I get a chance.

Centres d'intérêt

This is a fairly wide-ranging category for me. On a given day or night I might be: At the Opera, Hiking a mountain, Acting in or attending a play, dancing to some live music (most recently salsa), getting all swanky and heading to a ritzy club, kayaking, gambling at a casino, indulging the "foodie" side of me at a new or favorite restaurant, watching a good flick, playing guitar with a friend or my father (long-standing tradition of playing music with my dad), playing kickball. Man, the list just goes on.

After looking at my lists, I figured I should also mention that I like simple non-monetary activities as well, it's actually how I grew up, playing music with my dad, reading books, camping, swimming in rivers and lakes, playing board games, or even just having a brew or two at a friend's house and remenicing (sp?) about old times. So as long as the company's good or the scenery is great, I don't need a lot of frills....though frills can be fun ;).

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Seeing the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's production of "Othello": The venue was top-notch, the city Ashland, OR is gorgeous and romantic and so, SO cool, and the performance and production design was jaw-dropping. The show simultaneously destroyed and enlivened me.

Attending a traditional French family dinner in the south of France with my (then) Grenoble-Born girlfriend Julia. There were literally 15 + courses, and wine with each one, apertifs, cheeses, all manner of delicious foods, cognac afterwards, Cuban Cigars on the porch, and the weather was perfect, not to mention the company. I passed out after giving it my all :)

Flying down the slopes of Whistler mountain at break-neck speeds with my buddy Clayton after hiking way off the trail to get some fresh powder. From the Peak-to-Peak Gondola, to going out in the village at night, such an amazing time. AND we ran into friends there we didn't even know were coming.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Practical or impractical skills, if it fires you up, I want to hear about it and attempt to understand it. Sometimes the best way to teach something is to stop TALKING about it and just DO it. Then again, it can work the other way too.
