About Me

I'm all about travelling. At the moment, I teach English and lead food tours in Chengdu, China. I have a spare bedroom and a couch in a really quaint and quiet part of Chengdu. There are many parks and tea houses around me, plus good shopping and street food.

I love meeting new people, which is a big reason why I love travelling. I'm very sociable, although, like anyone, I also enjoy my alone time. Some of my favourite things to do include chilling/reading/working in cafes, bars etc. hiking and camping, reading, studying languages, and trying new foods.

I'm very easy going, neat, and independent- making me a fun and stress-free guest/host! I also love pets and animals in general! I have a dog named Raina

Interests

Food, culture, language, and history are undeniably my biggest interests!

I also play a bit of guitar, and am in a band called Swirly Nouners. You can check out our stuff here!

I majored in Classical Studies so you could say I have a certain fondness for the history and culture of ancient Mediterranean civilizations.

As I mentioned before, I'm really into travelling. As a cause of this, I tend to spend a lot of time researching countries that I want to go to.

My primary occupation is teaching English, so I like to research language teaching/learning techniques and activities when I have time. I also lead food tours in the city and am really in touch with the local food scene here.

I also like video games!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like most music, especially indie-instrumental stuff and cool electronic music. Got a soft spot for old school rap (Tribe, Biggie, etc.) Britpop, Bowie, and Talking Heads at the moment. Overall, not that picky when it comes to music.

I always feel like a huge nerd when I say this, but I love reading classical literature. By that I mean, the works of Homer, Cicero, Plato, Virgil etc. Its what I studied in uni and I honestly just cannot get enough of it. I also like certain authors of fantasy and historical-fiction.

I don't watch a ton of movies or TV shows, I'm a dedicated viewer of Game of Thrones and that's about it. I do love a good movie night though! I'll watch almost anything as long as there are snacks involved!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed mount Krakatoa in Indonesia and didn't get blown up!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can speak Mandarin and sichuanese quite well so if you come stay aty place I can give you a few tips about communication here/help you out.

I can play guitar! Let's jam! Don't know how to play guitar? I'll teach you! Then we can jam!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a decent cook and conversationalist!
