About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to fill out my passport, travel around as much as I can, and meet new people

ABOUT ME

I'm a little on the taller side, 6'1", 210lbs, and I am very adventurous. I enjoy life, and almost all activities, both indoors and outdoors, and am always willing to try something new. I've always wanted to travel around the world, but until my company sent me to Singapore I never got the chance to. I welcome the chance to meet new people, and go new places.

PHILOSOPHY

It's all good.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to go out and meet new people, and would love to show people around my own town as well as show them some of the things to do outside of Reno.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have met a few people in Singapore. Everyone has been really friendly and I really enjoyed the meetings. I would love to become even more involved, and will be looking for additional chances to do.

Interests

Offroading, target shooting, billiards, bowling, swimming, mini-golf, watching movies, snorkling, hiking, photography, and anything new.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - 90s Alternative, 80s rock
Movies - Like almost anything. Favorites are 7 Samurai, Yojimbo, and Lawrence of Arabia(yes, I know pretensious sounding, but I did enjoy the movies a lot)
Books - I read everything. Right now my favorite author is Robert Jordan(RIP) but tell me an author you like and I'll read at least one of their books.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
Singapore - very interesting city.
You have to kind of hold your ground when walking around(no one will make way for you, but after you started making it clear that you're just going to keep walking people will tend to stop jumping in front of you to move faster).
The zoo is huge, several hours of fun(if you're with a group of people who actually enjoys it at least), but keep in mind if you're a smoker there is no smoking allowed(although they have a pavilion a little past their boat landing that is almost always empty, with no oversight, and several cigarette butts on the ground).
Be very thankful you're a tourist in Singapore, apparently we can get away with actions the locals never would. Saw a guy passed out on the floor in the middle of a bar with his friends trying to wake him up, nothing happened. Went to a local and asked them what would happen if they did that and their response was they would be arrested.
If you're sitting down to eat somewhere bring a pack of tissues so that you can mark what table you're sitting at, Otherwise it's nearly impossible to find a seat.
Food is much better at the hawker centers than the nicer restaurants(and much cheaper). Just be prepared to queue in the lines during busy times, maybe bring a good book or two.
Lastly, learn to stop liking alochol so much. Everything's extremely expensive(think $30 SGD for 1 liter of Mojito).

Malaysia - do NOT go into the bathrooms alone. Even in a major mall, middle of the day, with people everywhere you will still probably run into at least one person who will offer you services. Also, it's dirty, make sure to wear thick shoes(had a half inch long rusted nail go through my shoes and stop at my socks), but still a fun place to go. And one thing - Ostrich Races.
